Whoa, what's the new confirmation log in thing?
Has anybody else upgraded to the new Firefox version 3.0.1 besides me?
After upgrading, I noticed right away, that I had lost my ability to increase the text size, up at the top of a page, what's that called up there, where the address bar is.? And, it seems that I have to scroll left to right to read now. Kinda like when we first moved to this site, Remember?
I just wondered what ya'll did about it, after the upgrade? _________________ Thanks!!

WC,
I have the new version of firefox but seldom use it. I seldom used the old one either as I normally use IE. But I just brought up the board using FIrefox.
Not sure this is what you are looking for about the text size, but in the View menu option, there is a Zoom option. That increases the size and there is a selection to zoom only the text.
About the scrolling problem. Do you normally use the 800x600 resolution? If I change my resolution to that I see the same problem. And the problem occurs not just in Firefox but in IE also.
Wider graphics on the scren can cause that problem, especially if they are on the right side of the screen. The text data normlly wraps so that you don't have to scroll to read it. BUt if there is a wide image on the page - then it makes the page wider and causes you to have to scroll. People using a higher resolution and a full screen display will not see the problem. When this happened back some time ago, it was caused by the Jump to: box at the bottom of the screen. It was because we had a really long forum name. Other wide graphics on the screen - like on the home page can cause the need for scrolling also. I don't know what is causing the problem this time.
Repa, Sam, what do you think?

Hi Wc,
About the confirmation, it was added yesterday... I am not fond of it, but its to help fight the spam bots according to FPB.
Here is the info about it here: http://www.freepowerboards.com/geeksmore/geeksmore-post-16502.html
Sorry... I do not use Firefox... most of the time I am here, I am usually on my old machine with IE6 and with a screen resolution of 800x600 and I have no left to right scrolling problem (I hate that too!)
IE6 is more problematic when designing web sites, but I like the challenge - LOL - and it is still best to design graphics for the screen resolution of 800x600px so as to not have the scrolling problem like what Fay said.
You should check your settings... something might have reseted during the upgrade.
The banner for the forum has the appropriate size for those with 800x600 - so it cannot be that
Fay,
The Jump-to box thingy problem we had back then is now fixed _________________

Sounds like you're pretty much right-on in your assessment, Fay. WC, if you don't like the current version of Firefox, you can go back to your previous version of Firefox by doing a restore to before you installed it. If it doesn't work right, you can always undo the restore.
I have resisted putting Firefox Version 3 on my computers because of some known problems that I read about some time ago, and can't remember what they were now or where I read about them. _________________ Repa

Thanks for all your repliies!!
For some unknown reason I didn't receive notification for Repa, and Sam's reply! I only got one for Fay.
Fay, your suggestion of the Zoom helped quite a bit.
Sam, I guess the confirmation log in is just one more necessary evil!!
Repa, I just always do the upgrade, when a new one comes out, cause I use firefox exclusively.
I think my screen resolution is 800x600. I'll check it, and try some of the higher ones, to see if it makes a difference, if I can remember how to get there. Can someone refresh my memory please? _________________ Thanks!!

Right-Click anywhere on a blank area of your desktop and select Properties from the popup menu that appears. On the Display Properties window that appears, select the Settings tab. On the Settings tab, you will see an adjustment for Screen Resolution. _________________ Repa

Thanks Repa!
I changed the resolution to the next setting, 1024X768. That helped too. Probably should have changed long ago, since I've got a 20" monitor now.
Just to compare I changed to 1280X600, and it got too blurry to read. I switched back to 1024X768.
1) Also, when I changed to any setting, sfter clicking Apply, the screen turned black, and I had to go back in order to click "OK". Is this something to worry, or be concerned about?
2) I forgot to check before I began this post, but, the browser area at the top of a page, at the tabs, and address bar locations, the print is smaller now. If I go back and enlarge the Fonts, won't that cure that problem? _________________ Thanks!!

No.

No, I don't think so. Changing the font size only changes the text size of the web page.
