On matters of dispute.
_______________________________________________________________
Meeting with people should be a matter of quickly grasping their temperament and reacting appropriately to this person and that. Especially with an extremely argumentative person, after yielding considerably one should argue him down with superior logic, but without sounding harsh, and in a fashion that will allow no resentment to be left afterwards. This is a function of both the heart and words. This was an opinion given by a priest concerning personal encounters .

_______________________________________________________________
A lesson often hard learned. Whenever engaged in a argument there are in my eyes  two goals one would seek to achieve, and it is difficult for these goals to be achieved in co-existence. The first goal being satisfaction of personal ego and the second being the comprehension and acceptance of a held ideal. The difficulty of achieving these goals in unison is that ego often does not leave room for comprehension and acceptance in your opposition. Ego would seek to take a "slash and burn" approach with very clearly defined "black and white" ideas that often are worded in order to rob any credibility or truth from your opposition's point of view.
Conversely most would say that if a debate is taken upon without Ego only the best resolution would come about. I tend to disagree because a very important bi-product of ego is decisiveness. Without it all ideals would be held in a gray area and often remain un acted upon or held in a constant state of debate and revision. "Ideals" and "Truths" are useless without implementation into the physical world. When ego is satisfied in accordance with the resolution of an argument this implementation can be optimumly achieved.

Another important notion I pull from this passage is the careful homage one must pay to another's counterpoint. In order to effectively argue your own point you must truly be able to project yourself into your opposition's point of view to not only understand their ideas, but how they came to understand it as a "truth". This deft form of debate is very difficult to achieve as often one must concern themselves with an ideal you find illogical or incorrect.

Food for thought, or maybe even debate!

Needful Things
*******************************************************************
*Because we do most things relying only on our own sagacity we become self-interested, turn our backs on reason, and things do not turn out well. As seen by other people this is sordid, weak, narrow and inefficient. When one is not capable of true intelligence, it is good to consult with someone of good sense. An adviser will fulfill the Way when he makes a decision by selfless and frank intelligence because he is not personally involved. This way of doing things will certainly be seen by others as being strongly rooted. It is, for example, like a large tree with many roots. One man's intelligence is like a tree that has been simply stuck in the ground. *******************************************************************

I will be doing my best to abide by this passage's lesson in the coming months. You know sometimes people cannot look past their own wishes in order to achieve a grander goal, yet one still must be cautious to not be foolishly self sacrificing. Many times peoples unwillingness to put aside a petty self conviction or want often prevents them achieving their grander goals. When faced with a choice to put aside your own needs in favor of accomplishing a larger achievement, I find you must ask yourself some questions.
1) Will this sacrifice TRULY be fruitiouse towards the achievement of a larger goal?
2) Is this greater goal worth the personal Sacrifice your about to make?
Now if you are having a hard time answering either of those questions it is always good to seek advisement from a trusted acquaintance. In fact I often recommend going to a acquaintance instead of a friend since friends can often feel stronger about your convictions then you can. It is said though the true "Samurai" could fore go advisement in most, not all situations by learning to pull his mind away from his own wants and studying the situation with a unbiased consciousness.

Even if it seems certain that you will lose, retaliate. Neither wisdom nor technique has a place in this. A real man does not think of victory or defeat. He plunges recklessly towards an irrational death. By doing this, you will awaken from your dreams.

Now its tough to apply this is Social situations as this really can only be applied to the most extreme physical situations. Basically when your on your last legs, when you are facing insurmountable odds, and when all you have left that is undefeated is your spirit do not allow it to break. Choose death over submission, chose oblivion before conformity. Don't use your last breath to yield instead use it to strike. They can take your wealth, they can take your life, but your spirit remains unbeaten.

Here's a quote from his myspace(which I use on mine now too Yes I gave him credit for it
--Life is too short to sit idly by and wait for the world. Get on your horse, slide on those shoes, go forth and go boldly. The journey is uncertain, the guarantees are few, but the rewards are limitless and that experience is what will truly define you. Sit on the mountain tops, swim in the seas Touch every corner of the earth and know you lived filled to the brim leaving no room for doubt and dreams realized. Onward young soldier, Onward...

S. Joe. .

He's into phlosophy aparently. wOW, I really like him...I liked him allot, but after seeing how much I guess what you call wisdom it helps out allot. He reminds me of my self too. He's just a plain person, and made it big in wrestling. He's one of the wrestlers that I look up to for a few years now. My top where Eddy Guerrero, and Chris Benoit, but they are both dead now, so they did something wrong Razz...The Rock and auston where both mine too, but neither wrestle now :p Rock is to busy doing movies, and Austin got into troble for beating his wife, and also was on some stuff etc...Samoa Joe looks more like someone to look up to.
