I have a friend who likes to sing, and she wants to record her self, and then upload the songs to the net on a site she had found. How do we go about doing this? I'm helping her kinda, but need the steps, and is there software and such I will need?

You can use Dreamweaver, which you said you have, to upload any file to a website.

You can also use ftp to access the site and then use Windows Explorer to drag and drop folders and files from your computer to the website, and vice-versa.

1. Using the IE browser, type in the address line:

    ftp://ftp."website name"/

where website name is the address of the website without the quote marks, e.g.,ftp://ftp.mywebspace.net .

2. When a Logon Screen appears, you will need to know and enter the userid and password and then click the Logon button.

3. The site appears. From the menu bar, select View > Explorer Bar > Folders.

4. Your computer folders and the site folders both appear on the left under Folders, and your website folders are in the pane on the right.

5. Now, while holding down the Ctrl Key, you can select and copy (drag and drop) files and folders from your computer to the website or from the website to your computer.

This isn't like that repa. I know how to upload, but how do I get her from the recording(and how does she do that) up to where the recorded song is on her pc. So like I know how to upload and stuff.

Here's the site she's wanting to upload to http://www.unsigned.com/

Now, I need to know what she needs to record, and how to record. Then, how to place it on the P.C. and fromt h ere I'm good Wink...She's on a budget of under 100 bucks.

Don't know much about that as I don't do music, but here's a site that gives you instructions using Audacity to do what you want:

http://www.audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Creating_a_simple_voice_and_music_Podcast_with_Auda city

Audacity is a free, open source program that you can download from here:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

This ought to be well within her budget - like free.  Very Happy

Yeah... I have heard of Audacity and I have heard that its good... never used it though... not my thing.

In fact it was requested upon me to not-to-sing Exclamation

If I understood you right, you are asking how one does a recording. That would be in a studio, so as to get studio quality sound.

From what I have seen on TV, some schools in the US has their own radio stations.  If your school has one you could ask them. Also you can ask the House band that performs at the proms of your school (or the Mixer).

Read the link that Repa has provided of Audacity - there is a section "Create your Voice Track" gives you a pretty good idea on how to do it from your PC - also you can take the mic in the shower to get a better isolation sound of the voice, just be-careful with the echo Laughing I am dead serious about the shower!

There are plenty of free sources out there that allows you to sing, mix and share - Check out these links

No, I know h ow to upload. I need to know how I record the song and get it into the computer. So she records it using a microphone that's plugged into a recorder with music or what ever, now how does she get that tape or cd or what ever to the pc and able to be uploaded.

Wwe, I told you where you can go to get instructions on how to do exactly what you want to do in my second post above. You'll have to go to the link provided to get the instructions. There, you are told how to get the music into Audacity, how to create the voice track, how to edit and add effects, and how to export and publish the recording.

Wwe... did you read what are in those links that both Repa and I provided?!!... your questions are answer in them... I said no different than Repa... read the Audacity link Repa has provided... you will get the answer to your question there... plus see the other links of free sources in the links I provided... the answer to your question are ALL in there.

But what I also said in my previous post... is that, if you want a "studio" sound go to a studio.. and if you did not know studios provides the different outputs of your recording you need... for money of course Rolling Eyes

you may never know... schools might be different... for a small fee

I did some voice recording for a university once. So I know that some schools offer these things

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now... lets say you already have the recording in hand... I will ask in what format is the recording in?

If you already have the recording... well... that is a different issue... just let us know
