· Quote

The answer is, in my opinion, a definite NO! Why, you ask? Here's an example:

Today I ran accross an article on MSN that talked about a promising website to use in searching for "lost" friends. Before I follow any links, regardless of who or where they come from, I check them out at SiteAdvisor. This particular link went to isearch .com. The SiteAdvisor rating for this website is GREEN. But, reading further down the page showed that this site is linked to 2 sites that SiteAdvisor has rated as RED! Reading further down the page you come across comments from a highly rated user who investigated this site and indicated that this site is notoriously known for malware. The site is also in SpywareBlaster's table for Restricted Sites. You can read all about what my more indepth investigation uncovered about this site here:

http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/isearch.com

http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2004-090913-3242-99

The above is just one example. I frequently find similar instances in researching links to other websites at SiteAdvisor.

Am I suggesting that you stop using SiteAdvisor? Absolutely Not! What I am suggesting is that you read beyond the "GREEN" rating symbol and check out the rest of the page for any comments from users who have visited the site you are interested in to see what they found before you follow the link. If SiteAdvisor shows a YELLOW or RED rating, you can be pretty confident about those. Just do a little more digging before you trust the GREEN ratings, or you could get "burned!"
