Repa,
I had to turn my computer off yesterday, when it froze up on my desktop, using the On/Off button on the CP Tower. I've heard in the past, that doing this, can cause harm to your computer.
Is this true, and what will it do to the computer?

No, it won't harm your computer. Be sure, though, that your computer settings under power management are set such that when you press the power button, the power management setting selected is "Shut down." The video that Jane posted above tells you how to check that if you don't already know how.
