As you all know, we have our own free ecard/postcard maker. However, it's for members only. Check it out; it's in the portal (home) page.
We have space to showcase 20 pictures and 20 backgrounds. This is a nice way to not only advertise our board, but to show what we are learning. I hope that - with the images you will see in there - you will be inspired to add some of your own images and card creations, or just share a favorite verse or poem.
I believe that we can always have the following categories present:
• Birthday cards,
• Anniversaries – Love cards,
• Get Well cards,
• Thank you cards,
• Friendship - Thinking about you cards, and
• Anytime cards,
or any other category you would like to add. We can rotate the holiday/season cards. We can even leave the most popular cards on display all the time.
To add a card of your own, you can either give me the URL of where you have your creation stored, or email the image to me. If you only have a favorite verse to share, but no image, no problem; perhaps another member may have an image, but no verse. In this way, we will all be working as a team. Each masterpiece shall have the name of the member that submitted the work on it, whether it has to do with image or verse. The images must be in JPG or GIF format. I think we can use animated images, too.
The dimensions required for images or card creations submitted are as follows:
The images must be at least 310 pixels wide by 250 pixels tall, but no larger than 637 pixels wide by 404 pixels tall.
One can personalize the ecard/postcard to be sent by changing the background, changing text color, adding a special effect, and even adding music. Plus, when the card is sent, the person sending the card will receive an email notification that the card has been sent, including a copy of the message and a link to view the card. The person receiving the card will receive an email message advising them of the ecard/postcard sent by one of you, and the message will include directions on how to pick up the card, as well as a link to view the card.
So what do you say, my fellow geeks, shall we give it a go? Valentine’s Day, Carnival and Easter are just around the corner. This is an on-going project, because we will be rotating the cards or changing them to always have a fresh look.
This project requires teamwork, so your inputs and suggestions are valued.
Pepperpot.

Hi Ruth,
Its for any and everyone (anyone in your address book). I'm thinking to open it for everyone that passes by and sees it. But all those that will submits a card/image has to agree on that one.
Btw - How are those images loading for you? Are they heavy? _________________

Thanks for the response! That's just what I wanted to "hear"!
The images load just fine! It seems strange, some images take a long time to load and some don't take long at all! _________________

Thank you Sam for your work to make this available to us. I promise to learn the procedures and put up some more soon without making more work for you. Your contribution to the group is priceless and everyone here appreciates you. _________________ "Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before." |

Novice,
Many thanks for your kind words. I’m truly touched.
It was no problem for me, or more work. This feature for the board is for team work. It cannot work if there’s no team. I think we have a bunch of talented players right here, but its just up to who wants to play.
It's fun and interesting to see how people from all over the world and with different backgrounds can come together and create something, without having to meet personally. Participation is the key word and there are many levels of participation. Either by just asking a simple question, giving an answer, bringing a feature or information to the board, making a simple post or by anything else of personal interest. _________________

Hello Geeks,
Just a reminder
Anyone cares to make/donate a card for the Ecard feature... lets see some of those lovely image creations from GG&MG's to put in our E-card service and share them with our friends & world!
Cheers!

Sounds like a great feature, What are the size requirements? What can they say? Are they only for still cards or Can they be animated? Any other info I should know?

Thank you very much
- What are the size requirements?
The images must be at least 310 pixels wide by 250 pixels tall, but no larger than 637 pixels wide by 404 pixels tall.
- What can they say?
Any thing to your hearts content
- Are they only for still cards or Can they be animated?
I think we can use animated images, too - Have not tried
- Any other info I should know?
You probably should know that we only have space to showcase 20 pictures and 20 backgrounds. So I came up with the solution to always keep the mayor categories and rotate certain ones.
You may find more info on this in the initial post of this thread – if not ask away
Looking forward to your creations _________________

Thank you for the quick response. I will see what I have or can put together.
Sandra
Edited: I was going to add this in a new post, but then I would be double posting....lol.
Sorry to be late, I have been a little busy elsewhere lately. Is this something you look for in an e-card? I have never done an "e-card" though I have done this before, combining my poetry or a verse of one of my poems to a picture. Let me know if they are ok, or what is wrong with it so I can fix them or redo them
The picture of the infant is actually my grandson, the hands holding him his fathers (talk about an angel from heaven combined with that picture huh? lol) and the poem I wrote for him. I thought it would be cool to share it so others can send it along to new mamas.
The other is a verse from on of my poems.

Lol – we are no soooo strict here
You can double post – especially if so many days after - lol
Sandra – thank you – the cards are lovely and truly inspirational.
I added a extra thingy on it for extra image protection – it’s very inconspicuous – but better safe that sorry (It says submitted by Aloverssunset for GG&MG)
Thanks again _________________
