This may not be as geeky as you think, but since I Got a notebook computer and can sit in bed and access the "Net" with my wireless router which is in the basement. I was having some trouble getting a good clear strong clear signal and have found an 802.11g cardbus adapter which slides into my notebook and works great. I had tried a couple of other wireless routers that produced a weak signal but this cardbus seems to really do the trick.

It's an Airbus 802.11g model AWLC 3026
