Hi,
I read an article in the local mullet wrapper about Offfice 2007 and it said many major corporations were going to avoid it and not use it until they have to make a switch from 2003 or whatever they use. The article also mentioned there was a fairly big learning curve to get used to 2007.

My impression of Office 2007 is hardly from the viewpoint of an expert, but I have to agree that it is a distinct departure from what people have gotten used to in Office 2003. The extensive use of icons for various functions can be a bit daunting when you are just looking to save a file. I guess that the trend is toward catering to computer users who can't read. lol _________________ "Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before." |

I haven't used office 2007, but I have felt the same way about some of the knobs/buttons on the car. I don't like having just the picutres.

I have about every beta application available from M$. If anyone would like to explore them and isn't afraid of using beta software I would be glad to send them. Most are available from the MS site, but many are server and developer suites that haven't been made public yet.
If you want to use a powerful office suite that operates much like MS office apps (MS did the copying, not the other way around) I suggest "Open Office.org". It is FREE(!!)
PS: They are all legit, no hacking software here. _________________ "Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before." |

I have been using the free 60 Day trial of Office '07 for more than a week now. I mainly use it to make my work schedule but I have been experimenting with other features too. It looked pretty scary at first but I'm getting used to it.
I signed up for HP's MS WORD class which begins on Thursday. I thought I might try to get through it with '07
instead of '03 which the class is aimed at. Am I a nut or what?

Go for it ghanson! There will probably be some differences in how the options are displayed, but you should have everything that's in 2003 and more. Look for ways to do the same thing when the controls and settings don't look the same. _________________ Repa

I took the MS Word course last time, for Office 2003. I have Word 2002, I had no problems at all. Someone in that class had 2007 and I don't remember them mentioning any major problems. The biggest difference was in the drop down lists. More of finding what you need than not having it.
