|
I created this thread to address this problem because it came up in another thread that was a side comment in another topic. It is also more appropriately covered in this forum.
In another thread, Rike said,

and provided the following information:

The funny thing is that it worked until last month, when I couldn't make it work in either browser. Now it works in IE. I get no error messages in Firefox, it just seems to garble the url for the picture, like this:
url http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v Pq7EaK0 img http://www.postimage.org/Pq7EaK0.jpg /img /url
I have no idea why it does that, and since it's working in IE now, there is no hurry - only curiosity about what might be the cause.
I will send a screen shot with IE:
So here you can see what it looks like in my Firefox message before I send it.
I submitted my February contest photos with "Add image to post" in Firefox with not problem. In March, I couldn't make it work neither in Firefox or IE, and Repa had to correct the code (like you did above). Now in April, it works in IE but not in Firefox.
I know I can figure out how to correct it, also - but I'm still curious as to why it isn't working as it should. Why does the code get scrambled at all? I sure wish I was REALLY a geek, so I could understand what's happening.

Thanks Rike... and btw... gorgeous Photo
Something is happening to the BBcode when it gets attach to the board. It could be an issue with postimage... or with FPB... or your computer/conection.
As you know I use the "add image to post" on a daily basis due to the games room (I have used both IE 6 & 7) to upload images... never encounter a problem such as yours.
What I need to know if this is happening to anyone else... Repa you said you had a problem with the add image & firefox... is it the same?
This as well could be the small errors the scans of FPB are trying to detect.
Rike... pardon me.... I will make a new thread of this issue in the "Report a board problem" forum so we can continue with our curious minds |
And, I answered the above as follows:
I know why that is happening to you, Rike. I was using an old version of Firefox and experienced a similar problem, only it wouldn't work at all, not just produce faulty code. So, I uninstalled Firefox and did a clean install of the latest version, then updated Noscript to the latest version. At that point, I was able to reproduce your problem exactly. I found by diagnosis and process of elimination that it is the latest version (version 1.6) of NoScript that is causing this problem.
Currently, you have only one option to correct it in Firefox that I can find that works, and that is to go to Tools > Add-ons, highlight NoScript and click the Disable button to disable it when you want to do this. You will need to do that before you open the page to freepowerboards, and then, when you are finished uploading and posting your image, go back and enable it again. Allowing Scripts Globally won't fix it, you have to disable it.
Fortunately, on Granny's computer, I had not updated NoScript, which has version 1.1.9 and it works fine, so I copied it over to my machine and pasted it over version 1.6. Now, add image to post works fine on my machine as well as Granny's.
If you would like, I can zip the NoScript version 1.1.9 folder for you and email it to you. Let me know. Guess this means I'm REALLY a geek? _________________ Repa

Wow, Repa, what superb geeky detective work! Amazing! Thank you for finding this out! Don't worry about sending the old version of no-script - I don't mind using IE when I want to send a picture. At least now I know it is not all MY fault!
Thank you again - I am in awe of Repa, the REAL Geek! _________________ Rike
