We will conduct this contest every month for the fun and enjoyment of our members. This will allow us all to share our photos in a different way. We will change the entry category from month to month to get a variety of subjects and to allow you to display your creativity in various art forms. We hope everyone will enjoy this and will participate, if not by entering in the contest, then at least by voting for the best "Photo of the Month."

The Contest description and guidelines follow below:

Up until the 26th of each month, all registered members can submit up to two (2) entries. These will be collectively displayed in the Photo of the Month Image Gallery [click on Album in the menu bar at the top of the page] for all to view.

Each member will send a private message (PM) to Repa and attach his or her photo(s) via "Add image to post", along with image title for viewing by the membership.

I will place the entries in the Album image gallery for the Photo of the Month Contest without the name of the contestant. Contestants will remain anonymous and only the winner's name will be revealed at the end of the contest. Be sure to keep checking the Album image gallery daily for new photos, as there is no notice given that new images have been added.

On the 27th of each month, a poll will be set up in a global announcement for member voting to select the winning photo. Each member will be allowed to cast a single vote only for one of the photographs. Contestants may also vote. From the 27th until the end of each month, voting is open to all registered members. Please do not post replies verbally indicating your preference. Your preference should remain anonymous. Vote in the poll set up at the top of the thread. Thank you.

To keep things balanced, please submit your photos scaled to a height of no greater than 650 pixels, a width of no greater than 650 pixels, and a file size no larger than 60KB. These constraints are taking into consideration that the winning photo will be displayed on the portal page and must fit in the space allocated, and also not create long load times for dial-up users. If these dimensions and file size limits are not met, I will either resize them myself if the image proportions can be maintained, or will request that you do so before they will be allowed.

Every month, we will have a different category for submitting photos. For this month, the rules are as follows:

1. The category is Action Photography. You may select any subject matter that you want to submit within this category. Your subject must be "in action," i.e., "moving" in order for your photo to qualify. You may be as creative as you like with your subject and the background environment as long as it is your work and within the GG&MG Rules and Guidelines for posted material. You may enter up to 2 photographs that you have created yourself.

2. The photographs may have been taken or made at any time - there is no restriction on time frame. It simply must be your photograph, taken by you and edited by you, and you alone.

3. You may use your image editor to make any changes, enhancements, or add any special effects that you like.

4. The winning photograph will be placed in the main (top) block of the portal (home) page on the 1st of the month following the contest for the duration of that month, along with the winner’s name (or userid).
