I keep getting an error on deleting one particular folder. I am not sure if this is computer or photo problem. But I put the question here because I suspect it is both.

I was cleaning up "My Pictures" and did a backup CD.  Once done, I started deleting the folders.  All I wanted deleted did delete except one.
The folder title is Miscellaneous 2.  My error is:

ERROR DELETING FILE OR FOLDER (Topic)
Message:  Cannot delete Miscellaneous 2. It is being used by another person or program.
Close any programs that might be using this file and try again.

Okay, I did a search. Cleared out all programs using these photos.  Then, I deleted each photo individually from the folder in My Pictures.  The actual folder is now empty according to the highlight I get when I pass the mouse over the folder.  Now I cannot even delete the empty folder, or change the name. Still get the same message.

This is not urgent, but I would really like to know where else to look.

btw: There are no other users on this pc.

Thanks for any help.

That message usually pops up if you have the file open.

Are you using that image for something in your computer = as a button, an icon, a background, wallpaper, etc?

Did you send the image in an email using Outlook?

Just some thoughts... it's strange you cannot edit the empty folder

Reboot into Safe Mode, sign in as Administrator, find it in Windows Explorer and you should be able to delete it there.

Repa,

No, the empty folder would not delete. So, instead of making a new folder, I just put some new photos in this folder.  Works fine. No problems, and the photos really are miscellaneous photos. So, it never deleted, but the problme is fixed.

Ok Jane, thanks. If you ever have a problem deleting a file or folder in the future, I've written a step-by-step tutorial (Sticky #17 in the Tutorials forum) that helps you resolve the problem.
