· Quote

All of a sudden when I try launch Excel I get the following errors:
"removable disk not available", "Error 1706 non valid source for MS Office 2000 SR-1 Professional".  "The Windows Installer cannot continue", "installation package data1.msi missing".  Unfortunately I no longer have the original CDs although I may be able to get it.

This problem did occur after doing some automated clean-up so maybe something did get screwed=up.

Any suggestions?

Joel

First thing to try is to do a System Restore to a time before you did the automated cleanup - before this problem started happening. Let me know if that fixes your problem or not.

What automated cleanup application were you using?

I was able to resolve the problem by inserting the original office disc into the diskdrive when requested after starting excel.  Apparently the office configuration file got damaged.

The cleanup program I used was in the XP accessories folder under system tools.

Thanks for your help.
