In Michael Andrews Words (TimesCourier):
"I know a lot of folks bemoan the lack of interesting nightlife here in the mountains. Heck, I’m usually one of ‘em.
I noticed this past weekend was a little different, though, while attending a couple of new and intriguing evening prospects.
First, Georgia Wrestling Promotions made its debut at the Ellijay American Legion the evening of Friday, Feb 9. As I entered the Legion doors, it was obvious this was going to be at least a little different than other events of its like I’d attended in the past.
For one thing, there were people there - at least more than 20 or 30, which is a normal-size crowd for most indy ‘rassling shows in this area. Sure enough, an estimated 120 big and little fans came out to show support for the good guys and to play verbal target practice with the heels. And practice they did.
Promoter Roger Cantrell, who earlier in the evening was more than a little anxious due to a couple of wrestlers taking a wrong turn all the way to Ducktown and back before locating the correct venue, passed it along that the grapplers were surprised at what an “easy” crowd this one was to rile up.
When fans show disdain or appreciation, it’s always a better show for all involved. On this evening, vets like Ranger Ross and the Original Nightmare, with younger competitors like Shaun Tempers, High Impact and the massive, appropriately named Tank, found out they’ve got some new friends, not to mention a vocal fringe group of showtime enemies, here in Gilmer County."
