Bad news: Today has been a sad day for me. I had just received a letter from WB interactive saying that they are unable to grant me the rights to make a Harry Potter MMORPG.  This means production will be closed until further notice.
HOWEVER: I will do my best to try to receive the rights. I have sent another email asking how I would be able to obtain part of the rights to continue to make this great MMORPG. Production is postponed until I get a response. Donations are welcome.  You all have been a great community and I thank the team for their hard work and effort so I am not closing the project.

Sad Sad news. I just came on to announce that I am starting a new procject BUT that I am not leaving. I will be trying to make a virtual world where people will be able to upload their own models and that it would be put into the next update.
Just to say again that im not leaving. I will check here every day in hopes that they will let us continue. Hmm I wonder how long they've been following us around for. |

oh ok, so should we be thinking of some ideas, to make a new game, or a magical harrypotter like game, but defiantly not harry potter...

but why they dont want to give the rights? is that they didnt like the graphics? if its graphics or other problem from our side we can improve it. |

Um, I wish that would be the case.  But it isn't. I'll post the letter when I get home though. They wont give us the rights for some sort of reason I can't remember. But they do have a cool logo on their letter.  But I am not giving up.

As you might imagine, we receive numerous emails and letters from fans around the world and appreciate that you have taken the time to write to us. The notion of creating a Harry Potter massive multi-player online role playing game (MMORPG) is something that we've been discussing at Warner Bros. for a number of years and continue to explore.
At this current stage, we are investigating the possibility of creating your own MMORPG and consequently we are unable to grant you the permission that you would need in order to create, distribute (for sale or without cost, online or otherwise) your own Harry Potter MMORPG at this time. Oh wow cool, hope the number doesn't take you to the same place, like directly to warner bros deciding on yes or no.
Glad to read this letter, they put it very nicely. but yah like i said, they said no because they are intrested in the idea of a harrypotter mmo, so if they do decide in the future to make one, they don't want this effecting, excpeccialy if we manage to get over a few hundred players eh

Nope. It'd be a waste of time if they did. They could try to sue me, but that would be no use. As long as I have the permission, I could practically do whatever with it.

Haha Nice, well one last idea, if you wanted maybey you could ask them for permission with the agreement of some stuff like, we have to limit our game to 1000 players lol, and we have to do some small WB commercialing or something i dunno, that would be a very desperate attempt i'ld say but just thowing pennies into a jar

Well I'm not sure what there expectations are for this game yet. They would probably charge me for the "fame" or commercial use of Harry Potter. Plus, the first 1000, would be the first lucky 1000. And it wouldn't be fair for some people, and others might end up joining the game, and not play it.
