Its moreso because it breaks the legal agreement of the web software.

Perhaps just start with game maker and learn the baisics, RC is easy too i suppose.

I am like a fugitive!!! BAM BOOM VWOOM!!!! YOU WILL NEVER CATCH ME ALIIIIIVE!!!!!!!!

Not like that. Razz The terms and agreements stated that you must be 13 years of age or older. You didn't read that part I presume? Wink Before you click, the button your supposed to click claims that you are 13 years or older.

I'm assuming for ipod touch you're using a free open source app? Torque only has like 2-3 engines if I recall and they all cost money. I know where you're coming from, but you'll have to spend money in the future. Or if you want at least a decent engine you'll have to cough up some cash. I don't really like those free engines since they become limited easily.

GameMaker... I tried making an RPG in that game, practically killed me. That was before they had yoyo games and actual support, maybe I could try again lol not

Yea avoiding spending money is impossible, you can get away with free side programs to benefit.
But having a strong engine on base is important.

Though once I get a mmo done I wanna try a non-mmo scene

Me and my dad are working on the 2d game for the ipod touch, we are gonna buy tgb (2d one) very soon, finish the game, and put it on his website so we can get some money from ads. With the money from the ads (hopefully alot of people come lol) we have to buy the itgb, and a mac so we can get it published on the touch. He is a cartoon artist and when people click on ads to his site he gets money.
here is his site
cooptoons.com

im not spending any money yet, but im not gonna buy a engine restricted to only one  game type unless its the heroengine or something lol. I may get torque 3d, not sure which one though.

Hero Engine?? Goodness no, don't buy that. Plus that is way out of your league in terms of money. You'd be better off with TGEA (Torque Game Engine Advanced) than Hero engine. Sure hero engine seems good and all like high quality, but it really isn't all of that. Plus it is strictly mmorpg development type games. If you ask me, hero engine is a waste of money. It cost more than most game engines and they try to make it so that it looks really cool and it "seems" easy to use. It's actually complicated. Baskyn, if any site says you need to contact them for information on pricing or liscening, most likely it will be a high priced engine. Wink So you should look for engines that have their price online. I don't really trust the ones where you have to contact because they'll give you any number.

i meant if i had a good amount of money i would buy it, i like the terrain system. I cant find anything good for terrain. I am going to get TGEA, maybe later if i get enough money i will get the new 3d torque engine they are working on.

i know heroengine is out of my league but it looks like it can make a good game and has been said by stor that it is very good. I wont be getting it anytime soon, its $50,000 dollars, i contacted them a while back.

Yeah it sure is. Hero engine is good, if you have a ton of money you don't mind wasting. I've seen better engines out there that are far more cheaper and can do a whole lot more than hero engine. They even have great graphics. Hero Engine has a good terrain system, but so do other engines. It can be a powerful engine, but your still limited. I've seen open source engines better than hero engine.

Well keep in mind the good ones are quite some pocket change. Wink I plan on using Unity game engine for the game series I'm making. But it's $200. Of course I'm saving up for it but I'm using the 30 day trial (free) and it is a really powerful engine. And it's a whole lot cheaper than those other ones lol *hint hint hero engine*. It's pretty complex though. So it may be rough at first, harder to get used to than Realm Crafter was that's for sure. But it has a good terrain system that is very detailed. I'm currently studying the codes (java script, C#, and Boo script) for Unity. But with Unity you can make any type of game you want.

Yea Unity really has surprised me, and it can make games for the Ipod touch.
Though if you tried you could get it on other systems, but not through unity and you would have to buy seperate expensive licences and program a way to get it to work for other systems. So if you were serious enough you could lol
