I am still mourning over the loss of Leo. It's not been quite a week, and I've cried quite a bit. When he passed, I was afraid to see him. I told my husband that I worried that he would feel or look different. My husband's words meant so much. He said, "He's Leonard. He feels and looks like Leonard." I was able to gather strength, and hold him, pet his head, and say good-bye. I'm glad that I was able to.
His angel page looks very nice, and I will be sure to send you some photos. I miss him very much, adn the poems about doggies in heaven both comforted me, and touched my heart. I wish there was more that we could have done for him. He was my warm sleeping buddy while my husband worked third shifts. I compared him to a teddy bear, because he loved to snuggle and be loved. I think that the most difficult part of all of this was the fact that he'd cuddle up with me, and I'd touch his scar on his leg, and I knew how bad his life had once been. And I felt so sad for him, and I loved being able to love and spoil him now. I have a difficult time with the fact that he had five horrible years, and I was only able to give him one and a half good ones. It is not Leo's paws that I will remember, but his eyes. Droopy, yes, but they had such a look of thankfulness and love. I miss my doggy, and I aim not to replace him, but to make a new friend as dear to me as he was. Thank you for all of your support.

Here are some pictures of Leo and his buddy, Bo Jangles. They loved they time they spent together. Bo is the younger pup, and is horribly lost without his buddy. |

A Dog's Soul
Every dog must have a soul, somewhere deep inside Where all his hurts and grievances are buried with his pride.
Where he decides the good and bad, the wrong way from the right, And where his judgment carefully is hidden from our sight. A dog must have a secret place, where every thought abides, A sort of close acquaintance that he trusts in and confides.
And when accused unjustly for himself, He cannot speak, Rebuked, He finds within his soul, the comfort he must seek. He'll love, tho'he is unloved, and he'll serve tho'badly used, And one kind word will wipe away the times when he's abused. Altho' his heart may break in two, his love will still be whole, Because God gave to every dog an understanding Soul! Author Unknown
