www.app.com/DataUniverse, the Asbury Park Press’s public records site, will launch two new searchable databases in the coming days.
On Sunday, estimated 2006 payments to local police and paid firefighters will be searchable by name or agency. The data, reported by the state’s division of pension, is limited to salary payments made in 2006 but does not include overtime.
A story in the Sunday Asbury Park Press will detail how several paid firefighters and sheriff’s officers held two full-time jobs and gained double health benefits as a result. Three full-time members of a paid fire department were found by the Press to be also working full-time for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, even being paid thousands of dollars in overtime.
More than 500 public employees are enrolled in two separate pension systems – the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System and the Public Employees’ Retirement System – the Press found. These members can qualify for two pensions at retirement.
On Monday, DataUniverse will unveil a searchable list of all Rutgers University employees for 2006. The list will include name, department, title, campus, base salary and gross pay for 2006.
