Layoffs in Jackson's 2007 budget

JACKSON — The council on Tuesday night introduced the 2007 township budget that Mayor Mark A. Seda proposed earlier this month.
The $38,785,464 spending plan is up 2.2 percent but does not call for any increase in the municipal tax rate. Keeping the rate stable required "difficult decisions," Seda said, including suspending gypsy moth spraying and laying off up to 10 people in the construction department.
A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for April 24. |
