Police departments in Monmouth, Ocean get homeland security grants

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security today announced it awarded more than 2,000 equipment and training grants to first responders across the nation as a part of the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program.
This program helps to ensure that law enforcement and emergency responders can acquire specialized equipment and training to meet their homeland security mission. As part of this, first responder organizations in New Jersey will receive roughly $1,481,990 in equipment and training awards.
The following first responder organizations in Monmouth and Ocean counties received equipment and training awards through the fiscal year 2006:
Avon Police Department (thermal imager for law enforcement)
Deal Police Department (radio interoperability system)
Eatontown Police Department (modular portable video system)
Harvey Cedars Police Department (thermal imager for law enforcement)
Howell Police Department (rugged night vision monocular kit)
Jackson Police Department (MX-2 handheld thermal imager)
Keyport Police Department (AN/PVS-7B-style single tube night vision goggle)
Lakewood Police Department (rugged night vision monocular kit)
Long Branch Police Department (digital TACVest)
Stafford Police Department (Optim Freedomview fiber optic scope kit)
Manchester Police Department (thermal imager for law enforcement)
Marlboro Police Department (radio interoperability system)
Neptune Police Department (video detective)
Oceanport Police Department (thermal imager for law enforcement)
