THE DEPARTMENT OF PEACE CAMPAIGN
There is currently a bill before the U.S. House of Representatives (H.R. 808) to establish a United States Department of Peace. This historic measure will augment our current problem-solving options, providing practical, nonviolent solutions to the problems of domestic and international conflict.
The primary function of a United States Department of Peace is to research and facilitate nonviolent solutions to domestic and international conflict. Those skilled in ameliorating the effects of violence -- from conflict resolution experts to nonviolent communicators - have proven their effectiveness at treating root causes of violence. Peace is more than the absence of war; The Department of Peace will be an institutional platform for the proactive waging of peace.
Domestically, the Department of Peace will develop policies and allocate resources to effectively reduce the levels of domestic and gang violence, child abuse, and various other forms of societal discord. Internationally, the Department will advise the President and Congress on the most sophisticated ideas and techniques regarding peace-creation among nations.
The Peace Alliance is a citizen's campaign to support this legislation, with Department of Peace activists already working in over 280 Congressional districts. With your help, we can continue to make traction in turning this peace-building network -- and the ideas it represents -- into a powerful political force.

i wondered this too and emailed the contact listed above (terry). this is the response i got:
"Hi, Stephanie,
Thanks for your interest. There are no plans to record or broadcast the event. There is, however, a promotional DVD that's available through the Peace Alliance website, at http://www.thepeacea lliance.org/content/view/27/145/. This DVD has 3 sections: 1- a short interview with Marianne Williamson, 2- a conversation between Dennis Kucinich and Walter Kronkite, and 3- a compilation promotional piece involving footage from prior conferences, with Marianne Williamson, Jan Hartke and Azim Khamisa. The first and third pieces can be viewed on YouTube, as well.
Thanks again,
Terry Mason
