What to Expect Before the End of the Summer?
Zita Pronj The most popular Croatian film festivals have just ended – Pula and Motovun – but this does not mean that moviefests are over…
Very soon, more accurately on August 17, Sarajevo Film Festival starts in the neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina and lasts until August 25.
The Competition Program will feature this year’s winner of the Golden Arena, the film The Living and the Dead. Moreover, the Sarajevo Film Festival is very important in the region, as it offers the world’s film industry professionals a place to exchange information and ideas, with the focus on films made in south-eastern Europe in the feature, short and documentary film categories. Last year, more than 120 features and about 50 short films were screened. This year, Festival organizers will welcome two distinguished guests: film directors Terry George and Michael Moore.Terry George will hold a lecture and possibly reveal a few facts about his new feature Reservation Road, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Jennifer Connelly and Mira Sorvino, which is set to premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival. Controversial director Michael Moore will present his latest documentary, Sicko, on closing night.
