ummm...My name is Stephanie...and I've been a Joaquin addict for several years now.  Sometimes it's hard to get through the day, all I can think about is Joaquin.  I watch his movies over and over and over until I know them by heart.  I search the internet for any tidbit I can find about him.  I devour websites with pictures or interviews.  Joaquin is my drug of choice and he's a pretty good one.  Everyone should get "high" on Joaquin at least once a day, they would feel soooo good.  I have a signed copy of a 2nd draft of the Gladiator script and a T-shirt that say "Property of Joaquin Phoenix"~~my husband does not like the shirt lol.  Joaquin had brought me many new friends from internet, people like me (scary thought!!) who love him so dearly.  If I ever hear anyone talk bad about him or make fun of his name or his scar, I step right up to the plate and try to set them straight.  If anyone says a movie of his is not the best they've ever seen, I have to set them straight too.

lol~~I was trying to do this like thos AA meetings where people get up and say hi my name is so and so and....plus I'm up way too early...and I'm really happy that sabine has started this forum!!!! Yay for Sabine~~you're the best : )

Sabine and Karen!!
Thank you for starting this website! I know I can never have enough of Joaquin and it is a blast to be able to share my obsession with friends. grin
(Standing)
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Melanie and I am a Joaqaoholic. (In the spirit of Stephanie) wink
I have been under the influence for about a year and a half now. The first movie I saw of his was Parenthood. I thought he looked nothing like his brother but they had the same acting talent. The next movie I saw was To Die For and then Gladiator. I seem to go see his movies every 5 years.I have been impressed with his acting since 1989, but it was when WTL came out that I was hooked. I have to get a Joaq fix everyday, which is why I am on the internet. I own several of his movies which allows me to get a daily dose. bah
Seriously, I really admire and am in awe of his acting. I respect not only what he does as an actor, but the organizations that he supports. And of course, he is a bit cute too. welldone
I am rambling so I will wrap this up:I love this man!!!! cloud9
Thank you for listening. loveflag

Hello my name is Lori!
I've been hooked on Joaquin since I first saw Gladiator.  I thought he stole the spotlight from Russell Crowe so I had to find out more about him.  He is such an interesting guy and the more I found out the more hooked I got.  I love that he cares about animals and loves music. I love his hair and eyes.  Mostly I love his acting.  He is mezmorizing (sp)
Last October I finally met him.  What an experience it was.  To actually see him in the flesh.  And he touched me and talked to me!!! ME!!! I felt like one of the luckiest woman in the world.  I don't think I want to recover from this obsession heartbeat

Oh girls..... hug  A big WELCOME to all of you  kissflower

I'm just so glad to have you here!

Well, my name is Sabine and I'm a Joaqoholic...My obsession started with Walk The Line. Joaquin's acting just blew me away. I knew him from some other films like The Village or Signs but Walk The Line...Walk the Line changed my life. My story is too long to write it down ... I just can say: my life is richer as it ever was now. And not only have I found Joaquin, I found friends all over the world.

I wanna tell you quick why I wanted to create this site. I'm a proud DJ member and I don't wanna leave the site nor am I annoyed or whatever. I respect Millie's point and the site is AWESOME.  welldone

But my vision was to find a good balanced middle between DJ and the extreme "perv" sites which I don't like. Don't get me wrong: I have nothing against perving nor am I prude. But I don't see any reason to do that in PUBLIC. Means for example: I don't allow too detailed perving  nono but I won't censor any words like "hot" or "sexy". I don't think it's disrespectful to use those words. Another example: I understand when people don't like to see any candid pics or don't wanna share gossip - but I wanna give those who wanna see the pics or wanna share gossip  the opportunity to do that. Anyone is free to choose for oneself.

I don't know if that's working of course. But I have faith in you and me - and I'm sure we can make it right.  loveflag

I'll do my very best for the site! Come together!  community

Ohh my gosh...looking around the room at so many familiar faces yet still feeling a bit shy...."hi my name is Charlotte....or maybe you know me as Flossie... and I guess ask anyone and they would say that I'm a Joaqaholic.  What?  I'm supposed to be able to admit that myself???  Okay..well perhaps, just maybe, it's possible I could be!  Don't get me wrong, for years I've been so happy to see him pop up in movies.  A movie would start and I'd see that name...Joaquin Phoenix (deep sigh) and know that I was in for a great performance.  Yet, I was not yet "seeking out" this talented actor.  Then one fateful day, shortly after my oldest son went to Iraq (no, I'm really not that old!!), my husband brought home the Walk The Line dvd!  I was mesmerized!  Even thought perhaps I had developed a never before attraction to Johnny Cash.  My husband bought me Johnny Cash CD's which were delightful yet....nope, not quite it.  Meanwhile, whilst looking at photos of me from my son's deployment I thought.."wow, pictures really do make you look heavier" - a lot heavier since having a total of 4 children and staying home with them (yes, this adds weight!!).  I thought perhaps if I imagined that I was going to be in a movie..that I needed to lose weight for a movie (actors must do that all the time, right?).  If the movie had a sexy (OMG we can say that word!!) co-star...perhaps a shower scene...that would be incentive to lose weight.  It must a a very talented actor, too.  No "B" movie for me, why waste imagination for second rate!  And of course, Walk the Line still fresh on the brain, why not that Joaquin Phoenix?  It's a slippery slope so that's where it all started a little over a year ago.  I checked out the fansites..gathered information for my imaginary co-star...filled my head with all sort of inspirational thoughts to keep my diet and motive me to exercise (shower scene...shower scene!!!).   By the way, it was also a great distraction from thinking all the scary thoughts about my first born being in Iraq!  So what happens when a stay home mother of four, that is slightly plump and feeling every year of her ..um lets say older than 30 years?

Glad you asked...watched all his movies, met the very best friends, stopped thinking about becoming vegan and did it, discovered some new bands (even started going to clubs again), went to a film festival, went to a movie screening, learned about and joined the Peace Alliance, DID I MENTION I MET JOAQUIN??, bought the shirt Max California was um..hurt very bad in, and ohhhh the weight loss.....now I really feel shy..but 70 pounds (a size 18 to a size 6).

Does this make me a Joaqaholic?  Well, seems I'm in very good company!

Thank you, Sabine for this site.  You know my first home is DearJoaquin which I adore but can this lovely site be my second home, a vacation home?  You know how much I love hanging out with you all!
