I feel that Joaquin's performance was powerful and captivating. Bobby was not someone who lived a clean life but you can see the potential in him and the love he had for Amada and his family. He had a quiet rage within him that is not easily portrayed by an actor. I know many people have said that about Joaquin but it is very true. Not many actors can bring such depth to a character that does not have many redeeming qualities on the surface but that he has a strong moral center that Joaquin allows Bobby to reveal layer by layer. I was impressed that he allowed Bobby to have an air of bravado but also a very tender, emotional side.

When you talk about 'layers' that Joaquin can peel off...it takes me back to "Walk the Line" ... He danced between the layers of the relationship of Johnny and his dad...right up to the very end. What impressed me with this movie was the intense car scene that was filmed partially bolted to a truck moving through the background of a beautiful sunny day in reality...lol. Joaquin had to go to some great depths in portraying the intensity of seeing his love being shot at, as well as seeing that guy blast a shot gun shell point blank, through his father. It looked as real as it can get from his character's POV.

I think the name of his girlfriend in the movie was Omara...something like that.

I have finaly seen WOTN tonight. I am not sure about the movie. I would say WOTN donīt own me. But maybe I am not in the right mood for watching this movie.
Spoiler:

Joaquin looks hot and sexy. His acting is also wonderful. But I expected a bit more from the movie, because I liked The Yards. I think it was a bit slow and too long sometimes. The plot wasnīt very deep so more action would help. I liked the begining, but after that it lost intensity. I didnīt like the cut in time, when Joe was shot. At this moment It lost the drive. I also didnīt like timing of Bobbyīs father death. Those two moments slowed down the movie even though they were substantial for the movie. It is a shame for me, because I liked the style and acting and it has a potential to be a good movie. It just didnīt touch me even in a very sad moments. I stayed outside. It didnīt drawn me in. I also think, that the way how Amanda disappeared from the movie was strange.
But I will give it a second chance. Maybe this is the movie which you have to see more than once. Maybe it is not the movie for love at first sight

Jindra,

When it comes out on DVD rent it and watch it again. I liked RR better I guess. I liked the chase scene and what followed the best in this movie. The intensity was great.

I will definitely give it a second chance. I am really not in the best mood those days. Maybe it is the reason why I didnīt enjoy it. Strange. Joaquin didnīt raise my mood. I canīt say that something anoyed me in a movie. It just didnīt catch me. I didnīt like 8MM and WOTN is definitely much better movie. I will let you know what are my feelings when I see it for the second time.
