I write because I love creating, and writing is my best venue for those creations.
I also write so others can 'vacaton' in places that are not accessible in the real world.
I mainly write because I have a passion to write.

I love the written word and love to tell a story. To me writing is like breathing, I can live without either one.

Motivation to write?...I do it because I have to do it to live, without my writing, I would die, I feel as if it is just like breathing to me.  Its the one thing that I can do, without people judging me.  The written word comes easy for me...so it was natural that I just write a story, a book, whatever comes to mind on my blog...I write something, somewhere every single day...

I discovered late in life, (I am now 50 years old), that writing is what I was born to do.
I finally found out my 'drive' is creating worlds, people, evoking emotions, and sharing my visions, imagination, and passion, with others.

I write to quiet the voices in my head.  My characters will not let me rest until I've written down what they are trying to tell me.  In short: I write to keep my sanity. (What little I have left.) Wink

Have you ever allowed yourself to step outside the box and write something that is even shocking to you?

I have some very shocking scenes in my novel, Shadow Walk: The Gathering.
I only worked on my antagonist's character at night one time, due to his evilness. And trust me, that gave me the heebie jeebies. (GRIN).

Every time I write a sex scene I shock myself.  Where did I learn this?  Hubby knows, I never do such things.   Embarassed

Have I ever written something shocking?  Of course!  What writer doesn't "experiment" from time to time?

Those who know me realize I write Christian ("sweet") romance.  What they don't know is that occasionally, if a couple is not quite right on the page, I write the wedding-night scene.  I don't leave it in the book, is all!  I do this to see what they will be like as married lovers: will they be playful, soulful, serious, a mixture of all of the above?

Once I've written this scene, I go back into the MS and tweak, and I have to say it's always gotten better for it.  Then I highlight all the sex and hit the "delete" key. Laughing

I once heard a multi-published Harlequin author tell an audience that she'd received direction from God to write Christian romance.  This was easy, she said, because all you have to do is delete the sex.  Snort!

Needless to say, the audience was not buying it, and the reading public apparently didn't buy her books, either.  There's a lot more to writing Christian fiction than that...
