Hey all you great people that want to help keep the blues alive in Madison! The Madison Blues Society makes everything happen by the hard work of a few dedicated members and we could really use your help!
If you would like to help out, our Secretary and head of the Membership Committee, Kate Hardy emailed out a great list of areas where we could use help. If you're interested, please contact her at this email address: kmhblues@charter.net or call one of the phone numbers below.

Committee Work - Have a skill or just a desire to help?
If you'd like to work with a group in an area of interest, please call either 221-7332 or 845-9052.
We will help get you started and assist as possible in setting goals. Some of the committees already have members and are active. Others are ideas and have not been started yet. We'd be very glad to talk with you and see if there is a type of committee work that meets your time availability, interests and skills.
1) Grant Writing, work with committee to identify available grants, develop language based on grant's high points & meet deadlines.
2) Blues in Schools- line up artist/residencies & connect with schools.
3) Blues in the Library- Could include choosing & purchase materials, communicating with Library about general blues material needs, perhaps set up live performances in libraries.
4) Sponsorship, seek for general Blues Society activities and for special event support. Write requests for sponsorship funds & follow up.
5) Fundraising items- T-shirts, products, help with info/photos for Website.
6) Publicity- Write announcements, coordinate with poster artist, printing for posters/flyers, radio/newspaper contacts.
7) Website- work with Paul to create/maintain or to submit info/news for site, writers needed to do Blues CD, book reviews or Website "Know your Local Musicians" interview/bios/photos of local bands.
 Coordinate Info Booths- for Madison Neighborhood festivals, BAMF in Belleville and Lion's Club Sun Prairie Blues Fest, seek volunteers or be a volunteer for info booth.
9) Bring new blues into town(1-2/year), work with Catherine DeValk.
10) Membership- assist, work on ways to increase, track.
11) Archives- preserve & catalogue history of MBS with copies of newsletters, photos, posters, flyers, etc) keeping our history in a binder.
12) Road Trips- plan and execute.
13) Yearly Blues Calendar- photographers, writers to interview artists
14) Compilation Madison Blues Artists CD- plan & arrange.
15) Social events- plan fun member activities & gatherings, last was 2/04.
16) Newsletter- Yet to be created.
17) Mailings- stuff, stamp, label.
1 Entertainment/speakers- for after meetings or at special social events
19) Music Committee- help year-round or for special events, ie,Blues Picnic, Luther AllisonTribute. Help select bands or artists. |
