I have had very sensitive skin my whole life. When my friends and I started playing with makeup in our teens, I had the hardest time finding anything I could wear. I eventually found a couple of brands I could tolerate for a few hours at a time for special occasions, but even these hypo-allergenic brands soon had me itchy or rashing out. My husband really doesn't like the look of makeup anyway, so by my early 20s I stopped wearing makeup all together, even though I have deep acne due to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
A few years ago I started seeing infomercials for mineral makeup on t.v. They sounded "too good to be true" and I pretty much tuned them out figuring I would still have allergy problems if I tied it. But when I developed an ugly, painful, chronic, raw ance-like rash across both cheeks during pregnancy (at age 33), I was desperate to find both pain relief and something to help me look in the mirror without cringing. I had watched those infomercials over and over and finally decided it was worth a try, so I skeptically ordered some samples.
The first test came from the fact that I wore the makeup for over a week without my husband even noticing - this actually speaks volumes as he so dislikes the "made-up" look, the fact that the coverage was natural enough that he couldn't tell I was wearing anything was amazing! Next, when he finally did comment, it was to mention how my skin was looking so much better recently, something I was also noticing. From the first application the pain was soothed and within 2 weeks the rash was totally gone! I found out just how much my skin really loved healthy mineral makeup when I would try to skip a day or two wearing it and the rash would start creeping back.
While I was thrilled to finally have a solution to my makeup and skin health needs, I was less than enthusiastic about the cost of the big brand name products. So after spending all my Christmas gift money on mineral makeup and leaving the store with just a couple of products, I started looking for affordable alternative. I found a discount company online and scooped up a huge order of their products at great prices, only to find that not all mineral makeups are created equally! I began itching and rashing out from the first application and finally had to throw my whole investment away. So I jumped from one discount company to the next, looking for anything that I could use with success, but leaving disapointed time after time.
About a year ago I heard of a new home business company starting internet sales for mineral makeup, so I ordered some of their sample and was pleasantly surprised that I could use them without problem. I jumped in with both feet and signed up on the spot, promoted like crazy and climed the consultant ranks there! But over time I've realized that my goals are a bit different than the focus of the first company I joined so I began researching my options, reading reviews, asking a ton of questions, contacting consultants and company founders, trying samples. Through this process I found Affordable Mineral Makeup to be just the company I was looking for.
I joined Affordable Mineral Makeup at the very end of November, 2007 and my membership fee had paid for itself in commissions within 5 weeks, even though I wasn't putting much promotional effort into things yet (with plans to really "launch" my new business in the new year)! I love this company for many things including the responsiveness of the company founder, a very wide selection of products and colors, great quality (ingrediants listed at the end of this post) at reasonable prices, and so much more:
No Bismuth in our products
No fillers or talc
No cornstarch
No chemicals
No parabens
No petroleum, oils or dyes
No preservatives
No required auto shipments
No animal testing
GREAT natural minerals
Fast PRIORITY shipping

I've told many people that I finally feel like I've found the business I've been looking for years to become part of! If you have ever tried big brand name but hate the price, if you have tried discount brands and been discouraged by product quality or fillers/additives with your minerals, or are simply currious to find out what all the mineral makeup craze is about, then AMM is just what you are looking for.
