I have a virus on my PC
It Disabled My task manager, and the system clock looks like this:
9:33 VIRUS ALERT!
It deleted the log off button, All programs, All right column links (except for the set everything to defaults link, it somewhat deleted Drives C & D
(No more NR2003! ). But left the A drive.
SO MANY POPUPS came up (BUY OUR AWARD WINNING ANTIVIRUS)
(WINDOWS HAS DETECTED SPYWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER, DOWNLOAD OUR FREE ANTIVIRUS TO GET PROTECTED)
Has anyone experienced this type of virus?
At least I managed to post this on the forum. lol
And the battle to save my pc has begun... |

I got one similar to that a few years ago. When I would CONTROL/ALT/DELETE nothing would show it was running. All of my anti virus and spy ware programs where incapacitated. Even if I renamed the spy ware/junk cleaner to something stupid like bobisibob, it would restart my computer. When I went to search Google for it, if I typed anything in the search bar having to do with spam, virus, clean, cleaner, problems, anything even resembling those words, my internet would shut down as soon as I hit the enter key. That is on both Mozilla, which I use now, and IE.
I ended up having to have the computer wiped. I had to put all the files I wanted to keep, on a separate HD, then had a local computer tech run 5 different versions of A-V, MCaffee, Norton, and three he suggested on the files before putting on my reformatted computer.
The guy had my computer for three weeks before I finally got it back. It was the longest three weeks of my life. _________________ Processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition Dual Core - 3.1GHZ

Trojan virus. I have the same exact problem on my laptop... when on start up, depending on what you have, the second screen (First screen being the name of company make of comp) press F8 for start up oprions.
Do Debugging mode. It's stops all of that, but it doesn't let you get rid of the virus. It lets me run my game and what not so.... lol _________________ When you think that you've had enough, think again. |

well u'll lose everthing on ur computer, but if u dont want to wait for it to crasha nd ull get ur computer back faster, ok first i need to kno a few things
1. What kind of computer you have
2. What your operating system is(Microsoft WindowsXP, WindowsXP Professional, Windows'98, Mac, etc.)
3. What drivers you have installed(C,D,E)
4. And MOST MOST MOST Important, how old you are(if you need adult assistance or not) |

For starters i recently got a pc upgrade:
Specs-
Intel Pentium Dual CPU 2.2 Ghz Each
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT Overclocked edition 512mb graphic card
80GB Hard Drive
2GB Ram
Realtek HD audio card
Anything Else?
Windows XP SP2
this was before the Virus:
A, C and D drives are there
15
but Is it ok if i try system restore?
I've managed to fix earlier viruses by using the system restore tool |

You can give it a shot but idk if it will help but what you need to do is find you windows disk(this is really important, you will need this to install windows back on you computer) put it in then re-boot your computer, you might want your parents with you when you do this, then when its starting up, you'll want to go to the "boot menu" (on my computer its F12). Then you'll go to, if i remember correctly the "Boot to" setup menu in the "boot menu." Then switch to "boot to CD"(this will boot up your computer from your windows disk). Get to the internet as quick as you can and get some sort of free anti-virus scan to scan your computer. If tht doesnt work, then you'll need to repeat the step only instead of booting from the CD you'll want to un-install the C and D drives. after this you'll want to re-install windows, on my computer it automatically gave me the option when the computer got re-started after the un-installing of the drives. and you'll go from there installing wiindows and your programs. IMPORTANT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR PARENTS AROUND TO MAKE SURE YOU DONT DO SOMETHING WRONG!!! ALSO REMEMBER THIS IS JUST ON MY COMPUTER, NOT TOO POSITIVE ABOUT YOURS BUT IM GUESSING IT IS DUE TO THE FACT THT IT IS A WINDOWS XP VERSION!!! Hope this helps you, and sorry if its hard to follow |

WOW thanks a mil!!!! You really saved me a lot of worrying and money there. I did the boot-disk option & downloaded AVG 8.0 and spybot S&D and did a full scan on the entire system (not at the same time of course!) and it picked up 4 trojans! After the scan, I also ran the spybot s&d scan. It picked up virtumonde and some fake antivirus programs and a toolbar. I restarted the computer and somewhat everything was normal . Except rundll popped up with an error which says that it cannot run the file (...........dll). At least the system is stable for now.
Again, thank you so much!!!! |

Nuking is also called reformatting. You just need a reformatting/backup disk. It reformats your computer and brings up all of the (in your case) XP files _________________ When you think that you've had enough, think again. |
