As euterpe pointed out, Lisa was finally able yesterday to come fix the header errors on the original nexus! 
This means several things:
 The original site is very probably safe again now, the way it was before.
You can probably log in again, even if you had trouble with those header messages there.
This site (the new nexus) will no longer be necessary once everything's all set to go at the original site.
I'll be speaking with Lisa by phone later today (or if not today, then extremely soon) and we'll hammer out all the specifics of transfering everything over to the new software system. I'll make announcements here as necessary, and I bet she'll do the same at the original site (and if she doesn't, I probably will).
I have missed the original nexus SO MUCH and am over the moon right now that it looks like it's going to get all fixed up. The New Nexus was always meant to be temporary, and the original site is far and away my favorite place on the internet. I'm so excited and can't contain myself. Keep sending good thoughts Lisa's way as she prepares to get things really rolling again, and thanks for your patience with this site as we all waited for the re-opening of the original one.  |

Yup. If you Google "mixsig.net" the warning thing is all gone.
Now that the headers are gone, the "new posts" button works again too! |

I did talk to Lisa today by phone. She verified that the original site is 100% safe now.
She also said that she's trying to get in contact with a computer friend of hers who can help her polish up the site once it's running on the new software. A few months ago her e-mail totally blew up -- she lost her whole inbox and address book and everything -- but she's got the software, which is a beta version but should still work perfectly.
She said she'd get to work on the upgrades right away, but that she couldn't estimate how long they'd take to finish. She said once they're done, MixSig and the Nexus will look and function pretty much the same as always, with two differences:
the modality icons (         ) won't show on our profiles right off the bat, not until she and her computer friend can come up with a way to do it. But the modalities will still be there, and the icons will still be alongside the smilies for us to use in our posts.
there will be image-uploading for the posts. Meaning, you can put a picture in your post straight from your computer. No need for a photobucket-type image hoster. AS A RESULT OF THIS, she said there'd be NO MORE ALBUMS. Syn images and descriptions/captions can go straight into posts in the Syn Artistry folder and the comments can follow.
I don't think either of these changes are in effect now, but they will be soon.
And remember all the concerns we (Emma and Fogwolf and I) had about her and her husband's health? They're both doing fine now. Healthy and super busy.
I'm going to be using both forums (here and the original) until Lisa says it's official, the original is all updated and upgraded the way she wants it. We didn't discuss it but I know you all can feel free to go post on the original site again, if you haven't been doing that already. Just watch for announcements and changes. |
