I have a theory on why some people were able to get back on to the Nexus after it was hacked, and some people weren't. I have a few questions to determine whether this is brilliant insight on my part, or complete bull.

People who were eventually able to get back on (Jay, Jakc, Euterpe, Pinkcapricorn, Emma, and others):

1. Were you able to log in normally, or did you have to use some sorta of trick to get in?

2. B.C. (Before Crash), did you have your account set to "automatically log in" (even if it didn't work), or did you type in your name and password each time?

People who weren't able to get back on:

B.C. (Before Crash), did you have your account set to "automatically log in" (even if it didn't work), or did you type in your name and password each time?

My idea is that it was the automatic log-in. I had mine set to automatic log-in, even though it didn't work after the server switch. After the crash, I couldn't log in the normal way at all. But when I clicked on "recent posts" to get into the Nexus, I got logged in. I couldn't do this on my brothers' high-tech fancy new computers.

On the other hand, Moose just said about two seconds ago that he also got automatically logged in, and he couldn't get back on the Nexus after the crash. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what you guys say.

I was able to get on every time I tried after the crash.  I set it to automatically log me in every time I visited.

I couldn't get on, and I didn't have it set to automatic log in.

I did have my account set to "automatically log in" before the crash, it did work before the crash, and it kept me logged in during the crash. I don't think I would've been able to log in otherwise.

worried/unsure I doubt this will be much help, but...

I had mine set to automatic log in before the server switch, after it, and when the header errors went up several times in December and January. The auto login worked fine both pre- and post-new-server, but wouldn't even recognize me when the header errors showed up. After Lisa fixed things in mid-January (2007), I stopped doing the automatic log in and started entering my username and password every time, thinking maybe if the header errors came again, I could get in without the auto feature (since that hadn't worked before). But alas the header errors came again in late January, and I still couldn't log in.

I also tried logging in from the other computer in our house, then from my friends' houses and from my local library. That was after I'd gone to manual logging in. Didn't matter, I could never get in. It showed that I'd visited that day and even that I was online, but I couldn't see most of the folders and I couldn't do anything.

I was not set to automatically log in and I could not do anything after the site was hijacked. Like someone else said, it looked like I had logged in and it showed on the site that I had logged in, but I couldn't do anything.

This happened to me when the header errors showed up the last couple of times and I'd been logging in manually.

1. I had to use a trick.
2. My account wasn't set to "automatically log in".
I figured that when I enter my nickname and password, they're accepted, but my account didn't work until I go to another page. But then it appeared to be different with everybody, so it doesn't sound logical.

2. I was set to automatically log in but once the header thing came on I couldn't even get past the home page and i might have logged out either on purpose or by accident i dont remember. Sorry that doesn't help much.
