As we approach the 6th anniversary of 9-11-01 lets pause and remember that awful day and remember the sacrifices of the firefighters EMTs and all those who lost their lives just doing their jobsReceived this via email yesterday from a fellow PGR it is unknown who took these photos
I met this driver about 4 months before my stroke.
We were in Texarkana Tx and he was in front of me waiting to pull on the Cat scales© to weigh his truck before heading out to deliver his load we got to Jabber jawing on the CB radio and once we were both scaled out went in to pick up our tickets while inside we grabbed a bite to eat and talked about his truck I forget now how much he said it cost him to paint his truck like this but it was NOT cheap. Check it out below
The trucker's name is John Holmgren from Shafer, Minn. He has been "pulled over" numerous times just so the troopers can get their picture taken with the truck.

How amazing! Thanks for posting this!
I cannot believe how long it has been. I still remember what I was doing and how scared I was watching those planes crash into the twin towers. :( _________________

Yeah it's funny how time has passed so quickly.
I was on the outskirts of NYC that morning and could see the towers burning from my vantage point. I did not actually see either crash happen just the aftermath.
Well that is a day I hope none of us ever have to live through again.

A good friend of mine had just left the NY Harbor on a cruise up to Nova Scotia on Sept 10th, on a cruise she had WON - she wanted to take me with her but had a friend who was bugging her so bad so she took her instead. They have a pic of them at the railing with the twin towers in the background - on 9-10. They had a HELL of a time getting back stateside at the end of the cruise/tour - ended up coming back via Detroit by bus about a week late.
I was at work listening to everything over the radio & felt like I was floating thru a Salvadore Dali painting - all warped & wrong. It was my son's 4th day of basic training. He called that evening for 30 seconds with a script they gave him so they could all call home to let us know they were OK. I just broke down crying (was the 1st I had heard from him since he had flown out of town 2 weeks before) and he quietly asked if it was true (the recruits suspected it MAY be a training tactic) and I said yes - that when he called I had JUST started watching the towers fall for the first time that day & so he was the first of 4 platoons to know it was true. Was a huge turnaround in our lives. I will NEVER forget. _________________

Yeah getting back to the mainland was very difficult for a few days after that.
I was lucky and got off the GW before they closed all the bridges.
About three drivers who worked for the same company I did had picked up out on Long Island but were not able to cross before they closed the bridges.
Those guys had to sit out there for several days until allowed to cross the bridge.
Of course the boss man paid them well for their troubles still I can imagine the aggrivation they had to endure while not being able to go anywhere.
Consider yourself lucky you were not on that cruise you missed one huge headache I assure you.
