AP
WASHINGTON - The Air Force is planning to fire at least five officers for an incident in which nuclear-armed missiles were mistakenly loaded on a B-52 bomber and flown across the U.S. — the worst known violation of nuclear security rules in decades.

I can't imagine the mess that could have caused Oh WAIT yes I can talk about causing the American people to further loose faith in our military that kind of accident is just what those like the "code pink" clowns are just dying to see happen. Those responsible for this mishap were certainly not thinking straight or something.
Now I guess they'll pay the price for their negligence.
I did not think the military fired people I thought they would courts martial you for dereliction of duty or something to that effect just shows what I know lol. _________________ <table border="0" bordercolor="#F6FCFD" width="1" bgcolor="#F6FCFD">

i would like to comment on this as they didn't touch on this idea in the article.
The Air Force said there was never any danger to the public because the weapons are designed with multiple safety features that ensure the warheads do not detonate accidentally.
Ummm... Never say never. Whatever about the safety features of the darn things. What if scenario... someone was doing dealings with someone with nefarious ideas about this country. It's been known to happen. There are terrorist cells in this country. What if... someone had a mental condition? It has been known to happen. Remember the NASA incident? She completely slipped by their watch didn't she? I am not being a "Debbie Downer", but I think we need to realize that this world has changed. Whoever was supposed to be minding the arms should be in trouble. _________________

You can get "Fired" from a "Position" you hold like "Commander of a Squadron" etc, but you can't be fired from the Military per say, you are correct, there is a trial by courts marshal and if found guilty you can be "discharged". _________________

The term "firings" struck me as strange as well
Never heard of anyone actually getting a "pink slip" but I guess it does happen _________________

Just a slight clarification, the term "Fired or Firing" is a Military Slang term for "Relieved of Duty" or "Relieved of Command" which as I stated earlier is not the same as being discharged or separated from the service in question. _________________
