The Seahawks of HM-16 flew the RH-53D Sea Stallion helicopter, providing the fleet with an aviation squadron for quick response world-wide deployment for Airborne Mine Countermeasures (AMCM). Nimitz in the Arabian Sea The RH-53D helicopter that was chosen for Operation Evening Light and Operation Eagle Claw had extra fuel tanks on the landing gear pylons, extending the range.
