Any way, the Assistant Chief of Alpine (cororinator) set me up with a Border Patrol officer. In the first night, we stopped a `mule train' (real mules) coming across the river. About 6 weeks earlier, I made a bust involving 3 pounds of grass and it made the TV and Newspapers across Texas as a great thing. The night I was `riding the river' the agent busted 55 pounds of MJ and it didn't even make the local news. Lot going on out there that no one knows about..
Yep, those guys were something special.. _________________

Funny story about my first encounter with the Boarder patrol down in Texas (Great State) I had just started driving a truck and at the time I had a partner that drove with me. Well he was highly allergic to dogs anyway we were going into Laredo<sp> to exchainge trailers with our Mexican counterparts that was taking our load into Mexico and we were going to deliver theirs up in Wisconsin. Well we went through the check point no problem but comming back out I was driving [figures ]
Anyway the officer was standing there with the biggest damn dog I've ever seen. He has me step down out of the truck and while his CO is looking through my shipping manifests the one with the dog asks if he can let the dog into my truck to sniff around, Well my partner steps around the corner and informs the officer that if he puts the dog in that truck that he [my partner] would not be able to breath for a month. Well the officer kind of grins and says well can the dog just stick his head in and sniff for drugs aliens etc? so I said sure and my partner agreed,
I don't know what my partner did but about the time that dog put his head in the door that dog just about broke his handlers arm. And started barking and raising all kinds of hell. Needless to say I had about 20 BP officers and two federal marshals combing our truck for the next couple of hours looking for something we just did not have. In the end the one handling the dog tells me my partner must have spooked the dog somehow but they just cannot take any chances when a dog barks like that.
BTW My partner did not come out of the sleeper until he was damn sure we were hell and gone from that dog. Which I don't blame him that damn dog loooked like Cujo on steroids _________________
