Montel Williams Loses Job after Defending Troops on Fox News by Brandon Friedman[Veterans Today]
For just over three minutes on Saturday morning, TV talk show host Montel Williams owned the hosts of Fox and Friends. A former Marine and Naval officer, Montel lectured the stunned hosts on the stupidity of spending air time on the death of Heath Ledger, rather than covering the war in Iraq. It was a spectacle rarely seen on live cable television, as Montel exposed and condemned both tabloid "news" shows and much of American culture for what they have each become: shallow and greedy.
Three minutes into this awkward segment on Fox, one host cut off Montel in order to go to a commercial. Montel did not return after the break. Four days later, after 17 years as a television host, Montel lost his job. Variety reported on Wednesday that the fate of "The Montel Williams Show" was sealed when key Fox-owned stations opted not to renew it for the 2008-09 season.

Got it and sent it out to everyone. Sad thing is until we demand support and air time for our troops things will not change. Something we should all do is write our TV station and let them know we want the same for our troops who are killed fighting for us. It does not matter if you agree with the war or not. They not only should report the bad, but they should let American's see the good the troops are doing also. Talk with the people there that are glad that they are there fighting for them. Let the American people see and hear some possitive not just the bad. Maybe just maybe and I know that, that is a GREAT BIG maybe, our troops will get a little more support from the home land until they are brought home just to be sent to Africa if Obama wins the election. This comes from a political site I just happened on that is predicting what will happen in America if he is elected with all the ties that he has in things that are NOT AMERICAN. I would give you the link but like I said I just happened to go there and did not copy it down. Hey Patches if you happen back on the site let me know. I really like Obama and try to read everything on him to make a good vote. I know that will upset some it has on other boards. But I can't vote for Hill and I think McCain will treat our troops right. I am looking into alot on him too. Even before this incident I knew Montel Williams to be one of the great men of this generation. Served his country honorably and well as an Enlisted Marine then as a Commissioned Naval Officer. A true American Patriot and gentleman with a big heart full of compassion for his fellow Americans and particularly Veterans and shame on Fox news for treating him in that manner I am disgusted. I hope another network gives him a position similar to his old one, I enjoyed his program. In the early days of Telivision if a TV or movie personality was suspected of being a communist or affilliated with communism in any way they were "black listed" and could not work in American entertainment again.
Now here we are the Networks are "black listing" again only,
This time it is the Patriots who are getting the proverbial axe
Real patriotism is getting censored but you can watch "Smut TV" ALL day long and NOBODY cares.
BIG changes in our world, seems to me the communist didn't really loose the cold war afterall.
American's have lost their spine.
We are paralysed from the neck down and those in charge are ruining our country.
All I can say is I truely hope each of you remember one thing our country after the '08 elections IF we don't get a real patriot in office is going to become a giant shit sandwich and we're ALL going to have to take a bite

You know...I have to admit that Montel is not someone that I watch that often but I did watch his shows. I have to agree with him 100% on this. Yes, Ledger's death was tragic. But like Montel said...where is the news coverage for those losing their lives over there????? I have seen so much of Britney and now this that I want to scream. I want to see what is going on in the real world, not all this Hollywood crap. It is just crazy. And to fire a man because he speaks him mind and supports the troops. I agree Amy.. I also agree with Patches on showing the good our troops are doing. I wish I could find the pic's my cousin sent from Iraq. He was building a school. All the kids were around them waiting for candy. And in the back ground a dang Camel. LOL I think the Hollywood junk is fine for some shows but I think the news should show us the real world. I too think the race of 08 is the biggest one of my time OS. I like two alot for very different reasons and they are both from different party's. Rep which is what I am on paper is McCain. As I have already said I like Obama. I am ok with that some don't like either. I pray that we put the right one in office. I also agree with you if we don't it will not get better. But I do sometimes like to here that the Iraq War should come to a end. I have alot of friends and family that feel they have done good there. And want to keep doing that good. But like they have said at what cost. The ppl there most are happy we are helping but the rest HATE US. Do I feel that we should have more troops in Afgan. YES I DO... I remember 9*11 and feel that is were we should be. We can not fight them all in many places. So I am torn. I would love for someone to point out things to me. Maybe I don't see them, maybe I will not agree. I have utmost respect for Montel. I don't watch his show regularly, but I have seen it from time to time. I think it's time for Faux News and the (C)ommunist (N)ews (N)etwork and the others need to get off the "cult of celebrity" train and do some real reporting. I know what you mean Roadie. I news broadcast seems to be leaning more and more towards to celebs. than the real world. And as for FOX firing Montel, I read in the paper in the last couple of weeks where he had already given the show up for next season for health reason and because he just was married and wanted to spend time with her. Now they are saying that he was fired. I have gone throw and throw my old newspapers trying to find that article but think hubby has burned it already. If anyone knows how to find old news articles maybe you can find it. I have watched his show a couple of times since that news broadcast and he has not mentioned it that I heard and his shows are not in rerun.
