What a year 2007 has been. O_O We made it folks one full year on FreePowerBoards Those who have been here since we opened here last year will remember the server crash about this time that left us scrambling to recover and preserve as much information as we could. Thankfully our host has since put measures in place to prevent that from happening again. Any way at the last post I made here back on 10 July we had just finished deleting all the Spam bots accounts and were down to just 45 registered members and only a couple thousand threads. Today we have 57 registered members our newest being tnrlym who just joined today [Welcome Aboard friend ] And our current thread count is 10,668 I'd say that through it all we've done fairly well considering all the crap we've been through and lessons learned we've still done really well as a community The past few weeks participation has really improved and there have been some really great posts being made and threads started. I appreciate each of you greatly I could not do this alone. Honestly I would have given up along time ago if not for the help of every single one of you members As we enter 2008 in just a few days please continue to encourage your friends and family to join us and participate. Next year at this time I'd like to have at minimum double our current stats both in membership and thread counts. Lets keep up the trend in participation. Those of you that have drifted away stop by and say Hi we miss you all. It is my hope that each of you have a safe and Merry Christmas if you go out partying Don't drink and drive you all have orders to report back here next year and you can't do that if you're in Jail or dead so be careful & responsible out there during this time of celebration. Feel free to have a good time just don't get stupid about it. To ANY deployed troops who might read this by chance... MERRY Christmas to you be safe wherever you are in the world. And THANK YOU for your service.. Participation has slowed to a near stand still but this time of year is expected so nothing new there. Over the next few months we will see even more slowness but then I'm NOT complaining. A few of our top posters have drifted away over the past month or so I think I'm fixing to have to delete a couple for being AWOL for over a year and that saddens me but, I've gotten no response from the contact message Mr. Smith sent out on Thursday Evening I hate it but my hand is forced if a member drops totally off the radar. We've recently underwent a change in rank structure where as we used to have ranks that revolved from 1 branch to the next we now have a solid structure that is in line with the US Army. I feel the change was necessary and has improved the look and feel of our forum. At this moment our current stats are, Quote: Our users have posted a total of 12116 articles We have 103 registered users That is a LONG way from where we started!! I'm so happy to see the forum continue to grow. The posts no longer depend strictly upon my trying to keep your interest stirred as it did back when we 1st started out. Rmlp34 along with Amy4pets3 have been posting great articles for us to read and discuss. Patches has done well with posting spiritual guidence posts, Knightrider47 continues to post information on Naval ships and their history. There is just too much for me to cover and alot goes on that I might miss due to circumstances beyond my control. Keep up the great work. I Think the whole economy thingy is getting to many, we are in the economic crunch so bad, it's all we can do is hope most of us can pull through, and keep things like OWCP up and running by participating. I've been so busy, I've been sorta AWOL myself, but everytime i get an email from OWCP, or reply notification, I peep in, LOL! Yes they do. Then some don't at all well at least 1 that I personally know of doesn't. Or at least they did not when I was a member there. THOUSANDS of registered members over 3/4 of who haven't been there in 2 or more years Me, I've always said I'd much rather show a handfull of registered members who are active as opposed to 10,000 or more who never bother to return even after a short period of posting. When we 1st started out I only allowed I think it was like 14 days then I deleted accounts then reconsidered that position once we started getting actual troops on here that was when I started the 1 year allowence unless other arrangements are made. So if a member joins today posts their 1st post they have 1 full year to return from the date of their latest post before I delete their accounts. If they request to be placed on hold their account is safe for 5 full years from their last post. Our position is if a person REALLY wants to be a member they will return at a minimum of once per month and certainly once per year. We don't constantly beg for participation or send out emails every week to try and bring the participation levels up once a member goes through our process for joining i it is up to THEM to stay in touch via email or something. It is not like my email address is not plastered all over this site where I can be contacted LOL so there really is NO excuse to just dissapear save death or dissability for example Fox_69 passed away last year her account will ALWAYS be safe Though she was only here a short time her contributions were good and I feel it right to honor her memory by allowing her name to remain in the data base. As long as owcp exists in some form she will have a place reserved for her as a memorial of sorts. So death and or disability are the ONLY exceptions but we can't know if someone does't report it as Oneactual did for Fox_69.
