Chaplain User is Offline Joined: 24 Oct 2006 Posts: 12997 Karma: 16 applaud / smite Location: Randolph, County N.C. 9216 points 0 warnings 0 tempbans	Posted: Sun Jul 27, 2008 4:54 pm    Post subject: USO opens center at Fort Bragg · Quote LOCAL NEWSPAPER ARTICLE MCCLATCHY-TRIBUNE NEWS SERVICE / AUTHOR UNKNOWN FAYETTEVILLE - Former servicemen fondly remember their time at the USO in Fayetteville.   With activities such as roller skating, bingo and sewing clubs, the USO became a popular hangout where soldiers and civilians could socialize when it opened in 1941.   Until Friday, the USO had not had a presence in Fayetteville in more than 20 years.   Now, a new generation of soldiers will enjoy a 4,200-square-foot facility on Fort Bragg where they can watch movies on big-screen TVS, play video games and surg the Web in a cybercafe.   The USO's newest site opened Friday in a renovated building formerly known as Blackjack Recreation Center on Goldberg Street.   Sgt. 1st Class Marchella Stevenson peeked in each room at the center. She watched as soldiers picked up cue sticks to play pool.   "It'll be such an asset," she said. "This feels like home. It's cozy."   "And it's free," added Master Sgt. Juan Oliva.   The USO has more than 130 centers across the globe, including three others in North Carolina at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport and in Jacksonville near Camp Lejeune. _________________ Staff Moderator Company XO   M.S.T.
