I hope that at least some of your questions are answered below. Please read on... 1.)Q, Are you a Veteran? A. No I'm not, I've NEVER served my country 2.)Q,Why are you so serious about troop support that you felt the need to start a message board just for that purpose? A. Simple, Not since WWII has there been a pure spirit of American Patriotism they were the last generation to really be "gung ho" about the importance of service to one's country. Vietnam I believe was and remains a contributing factor to the decline in patriotism. I hope that in some small way I can help re ignite the fire of real patriotism in the upcoming generation. Do I think I can change the world through a message board? NO but I CAN help plant the seed others will need to water and ultimately harvest the result. I can only do so much. 3.)Q. Some military themed message boards out there seem to want to act like a "boot camp" of sorts and they come off as harsh and belligerent towards the membership Your site doesn't seem to be that way why?<--I hate yet love that question A.I've been a member of a few forums that are like that. I feel it is THEIR right to run their house as they see fit, I'll run mine as I see fit. Some of those are run by actual veterans and they  see value in operating that way and use their experiences as a teaching tool maybe to vent pent up anger or whatever but AGAIN they can do that I CANNOT. I'm NOT a vet so I'm not about to act as though I know all there is to know about military service when in actuality I don't know squat. So I'll leave that attitude to those who know what their doing and what they're trying to accomplish. I feel that true patriotism comes from the heart. Your average citizen is going to get pissed off being treated like that because they can't wrap their minds around the mentality. I've talked with a few vets that refuse to be exposed to that again. They served their time in the real world and they refuse to put up with strict un-bending rules during their "play time" OWCP was founded to give ALL a warm friendly place on the WWW to come and learn or share information without the fear of getting "Smoked" for a simple over sight or whatever. If it works GREAT! If it fails then I can die knowing that I gave it one HELLUVA shot and I did not quit when things got tough and or frustrating. 4.)Q. Do you think your site is better than others like it?<---This one grates my nerves to NO end!! A. NO Look owcp is bare bones in comparison to some of the other sites out there. They have their own programmers, coders etc and don't have to depend on a free host to provide them web space. I'm at the bottom of the barrel but refuse to quit just because I might not yet be able to offer the "best features" or have the most members   If features and membership #'s were all that counts then this is NOT the place for anyone looking for fancy buttons or flashy features that only wax thin if the atmosphere is hostile. You want friendly and fun? OWCP is for you. Looking to feel like you're in the military go try one of the other guy's sites. I assure you they'll give you all you're looking for and then some. We are FAR from being the best in my opinion I can't speak for my members you'll have to ask them... 5.)Q.Why do you reserve the sole right to ban a member don't you trust your staff? A.YES I trust my staff or they would NOT be on staff in the first place. Baning a member is something that I feel should be the absolute LAST course of action, People are going to make mistakes I know I do Fact is there are 3 sides to every story. 1Your side 2. their side 3. the TRUTH As C-N-C it is my responsibility to be part of the community. I could have set the site up assigned a few staff members then said "OK guys/gals it's all yours, I'll check in periodically to make sure your operating just as I expect you to" That is NO leader in my book. To me that would be like George S. Patton sending his troops out to fight the war with only a small "pep-talk" to motivate them but if my memory serves I believe it was common place to see him on the front lines leading his troops and that is why he is hailed as such a great man and leader. Am I a leader? Not in my eyes but again you'd need o ask the members here on that I'm just a nobody trying to be a somebody LOL. I hope this has answered at least some of your questions, If not go ahead and ask me what you will. I will be as honest as I can be. OS is a GREAT leader & has managed to put the kabash to the only couple of issues that have come up that have had the OPPORTUNITY to get hostile, but did not due to his - and other members' - intervention. OS has a fantastic message board and is great for any sort of support - for military families as well as troops, as well as simply caring & supporting individual members in their trials. Thank you for your time Sir, Oneactual #1 The LT Commandant position will be filled by an existing staff member that has served a minimum of 6 months in their current billet. Prefferably they will already have admin powers but if need be I'll train a a current mod in board administration. So based on time in grade I will select the new LT Commandant based on Dependability,availabilityand senioraty. #2 My replacement? Well I'm only 33 so I hope that I have another 20-30 years to spend with you all but I'm smart enough to know that tomorrow is not garanteed to ANY of us. However if I should suddenly fall ill to where I could not be here whoever holds the Commandants position will assume the role of C-N-C until I can return or if I am unable to return it will become a permanent situation. In the event that the Commandant does not feel he/she could run this forum for whatever reason they have the option of selecting a new C-N-C based on the guidelines I've stated above. NOBODY will ever be able to claim the title of founder that is the only thing I'm reserving for myself. Any future owners of this forum should out of respect for me only carry the title of C-N-C which has a different rank image associated with it than the one I currently hold. The  next C-N-C of this forum will hold the rank image below Or some variation of it. Nah I just don't like the whole big ME little U attitude. I understand and respect that vets have earned the right to claim certain titles and accolades and would NEVER insinuate that I'm ANY better than they are because honestly I'm NOT. I've stated before this forum was started out of anger and maybe even a little misconception on MY part  but I'm in neck deep now and cannot even consider closing down the site and leaving all of you hanging out to dry. Point being I just don't see why there should not be a military forum where the members can't just come and enjoy posting with each other. Other than 1 maybe 2 instances there has not been any real trouble makers come along in the whole history of this site I'd say that is pretty good. Yeah we had a bunch of Spam bots at one point but even they never really disrupted the sites operation.
