This woman may very well be a nogoodnick . . . but maybe not so much of one as it seems on the surface. Most of these stories tend to be extremely one-sided. Many falang, without even realizing it, are on a campaign to change their Thai spouse or g/f on the assumption that the falang way of thinking and dong things is inherently superior to the Thai way, and they they are dong the Thai spouse some kind of big favor by "educating" and "improving" her. There are, of course, may things that Thais might wish to improve. just as there are many things that falang might wish to improve, however, almost anyone will begin to grow and nurse resentments if their spouse feel and acts superior, directly and indirectly belittling her culture and world view, constantly trying, overtly and covertly, to "fix" her. Even if, for the sake of argument, the falang way is superior, at least in some ways, no one wants to be the Eliza Doolittle to some falang Henry Higgins! And as open confrontation is not a feature of Thai culture, these resentments grow over time leading eventually to a loveless marriage of convenience, and often to a sudden eruption or act of betrayal as in "The Nation" article at the beginning of this thread. Poor falang is clueless, utterly dumbfounded at why sweet little wifey would "suddenly" act so strangely and apparently ruthlessly. Of course it is not sudden at all, it is merely the accumulated result of years of corrosion.
Of course writing something like this is fairly witless. Those who "get it", don't need to hear it, yet again. Those who really need to hear it are unlikely to imagine that it applies to them!

Brit says Thai woman dumps him after getting his Bt17 million
A 63-year-old Briton called for help from the authorities to force a Thai woman to return his money nearly Bt17 million after she chased him out of her house.
Stephen Jones said he had met the woman in Pattaya in 2001 and decided to sell all of his assets in England and gave the money to her to buy a house and plots of land in Kalasin to live with her.
But the woman chased him out of the house two months ago after she had got all of his money.
He said he was broke and wanted his money back so that he could return to his homeland.
Kalasin chief public prosecutor said the woman could not yet be charged with cheating because the two had married.
He said the Kalasin public prosecutor office would investigate to see if the assets had been bought with Jones' money or not and would see if Jones had willingly given the assets to the woman.
He said it was possible that Jones could sue the woman for equal divisions of the assets.
I know this man and his situation, and I am sure that there are Farang's all over Thailand who would be interested in seeing if the Thai Courts can work for a Farang...
Also forgot to mention that it was also on Channel 5 News last Friday..
