During a time I am unfamiliar
Twenty two years before my birth
In fact, the very year my father
was born, here on earth
Reading of letters from men
None of them a bit glad
To be away from home
Hearing the horrors, quite sad
'Stuck in a foreign land
Watching your every move
Knowing just over that hill
If not careful, you'll be removed
While sitting, lying or crawling
Along the ground frozen over
With blankets of snow
Your mind begins to recover
Memories of childhood
Playing in the snow
Sledding down the hills
Always fast, never slow
Gathering and packing
For the perfect snowball
Thrown straight ahead
Upon impact, laughter calls
Jumping around as it melts
Running down the back
of the neck, sending chills
You think of a sneak attack
Outside all day long
Loving the snow as it fell
Knowing it was time to go in
When our feet would yell
Back here in reality
The snowballs are grenades
And anything running down the neck
Is sure to be your blood, red suede
This kind of snow is not so fun
Questions of why we were here
Too late now to wonder
As we silently shook in fear'
Husbands, Fathers and Sons
Many lives were lost
Fighting amongst others
Within a hostile Korean frost.

Very nice, I don't recall this one. I see that you wrote it a while ago. Had you posted it before? _________________ "Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost" |

Thank you!
I surprised myself with this one
being that I am not a history buff
or anything, just not my interest.
Yes, it was posted in Free Verse ...
ha ha, I looked it up, and you posted.

Very well written for a not so history buff. I loved the details as life flashes before our eyes. what are the things we remember and what would we care to forget. |
