Dear valued members,
As we move along in our new site, we need to address some issues to help maintain our smooth flow.
Please keep an eye out for these.
ISSUE #1 ORIGINAL WORK
It is important that we all post work here that is exclusively our own; even if it is a family member or a trusted friend who wrote it. If that is the case, have them become a member to post. It is simple.
ISSUE #2 POSTING LIMITS
It is very discouraging to see new poetry submitted, then buried quickly under the growing list of newer ones. Sometimes they are moved down so fast, they are missed. Also, I have seen instances where one person has posted a long list of their work and has gotten NO responses to some of them. I understand the excitement and desire to share your work but I advise patience in posting. We want ALL of your work to be seen and responded to as it deserves to be. So, one of the ways we can help this to happen is by setting limits.
We ask that each member please:
Please only post your poem/topic once. Choose the most appropriate forum.
POST NO MORE THAN 4 NEW PIECES PER DAY ACROSS THE FORUMS and POST NO MORE THAN 2 PER FORUM, PER DAY.
Of course, replies and comments do not apply here. Those will remain unlimited. You will find that replying to others' work will result in more response to your own.
You have our thanks for complying.
ISSUE #3 STAFF
We have Moderator staff to help with problems you may encounter. Barney, Dennis and I are always happy to help, but we cannot be here 24/7. Moderators can give you assistance in most cases. Our Moderators as of this time, are DianaDCC, Morpheus, Liquid*Muse and Topaztwin. We are very pleased to have them on board.
ISSUE #4 FAMILY FORUMS
As you all can see, this site is accessable to anyone who can operate a computer. That of course includes children. We want this site to be one where even a child can come and be enriched by our words. We will not allow posts of a graphic violent, erotic, racist or hurtful nature or seemingly promotes the use of illegal substances or acts. Profanities will be edited out. Emotions are a part of poetry, but excessive display has to be curbed here. Please refrain from posting openly graphic works. Anything deemed too graphic or of an adult nature will be moved to a private forum by staff for Administrator consideration.
ISSUE #5 PRIVATE FORUMS (are in the works and not yet available.)
At this time, Poets' Point has three member private forums, Verse-a-tile, Boiler Room and Literary Advice
Verse-a-tile is for works with content which is not acceptable for a general family forum. This does not imply that all works are acceptable, even here. Anything too graphic or excitable, may still be removed by administrators.
Boiler Room is a place for venting. Again, anything too graphic may be removed.
Literary Advice is for anyone wishing specific advice on a poem they are working on. We ask that only the moderators of this forum respond to the specific issues with the poetry placed there. Anyone submitting work there, should state what advice they wish from the piece. We respectfully encourage keeping an open mind to the advice given. Our moderators are not professional critique rs, but do have good insight and are most helpful.
Admittance to private forums is for members only and must be granted by an administrator. Access to these forums requires certain criteria to be met. Anyone asking access must have been a member of Poets Point for at least 30 days and must have made at least 30 posts, which includes replies to other members' posts.
In the event a poem is moved to one of these forums by staff, the member without access to it has the option to have it removed until a time when he/she is able to enter the forum.
ISSUE #6 DISCLAIMER
The articles and other items posted on this poetry site and the opinions expressed herein are attributable to the individual authors and are not necessarily the opinions of Poets' Point, as an organization.
Thank you for reading and remembering our guidelines. We welcome all of you to Poets' Point! |
