pride sought
my heart screams
it claws its way up
fighting to pull its way free
to rip itself from my chest
in my mind i hear a cry
in know it comes from my mind
for i refuse to shed a tear
a weakness i won’t share
ive fought
ive tried
ive worked
ive failed
so much for praise
a leprechaun i chased
a pot of gold i thought
i found the rainbow
but like a cloud
it was gone
leaving me could
and burnt
what cruel twist of fate
what irony is this life
this joke so old
so over told
i don’t want to be
this fabled soul
who lost her way
seeking the holy grail
pride i once held
pride i once heard
pride i want no more
pride i shall never hold
my heart aches
it screams and pleas
it pulls upon its chains
only to be slammed down again
jess

Pride can be a two edged sword. It can ruin anything humble in us or it can allow us to have healthy self esteem. Two much of either can bite us hard.
I know the feeling oh too well of wanting some praise - the pride of being told something wonderful - yet getting slammed down instead. Yes, cruel indeed.
Nice job here, Diana!

I guess it's about having a balance, then, isn't it? Not too little, not too much. _________________ "Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost" |

| The sad thing is when it comes to late and the meaning gets lost. if my parents were to tell me now that they are proud of me it means far less then had they said it while i was growing up. |
