| Is it just me, or does Moss get nailed for pass interference a lot less as a Patriot than as a Raider, without really having changed his habits? |

It's not just you. Nothing has changed except the uniform. As an example, use the catch in the end zone a couple weeks ago that was shown endlessly on the highlights. All the commentators were raving about his multiple TD's and in fact one was outstanding, but the other was a textbook example of an arm-bar pushoff that they should use it at referee camp.
Makes you wonder that the ref's are looking at |

I admit I'm a Raiders fan and biased, but I honestly believe the Raiders are held to a different standard. I can name (and have noted on this site) plays where Moss had a TD called back as a Raider on a marginal push off...yet he does the same as a Patriot and there's no call. Perhaps its more the Pats getting a bit of leeway from officials...I don't know. But I do believe there's bias.
I recall reading a Jerry Rice interview after he'd been with the Raiders a couple years. Rice was convinced the officials hold the Raiders to a tougher standard...at least based on his perspective as a 49er, then a Raider. |

Your are kind of correct. But not 100%
There are great athletes in every sport that get away with more then anyone else.
Moss and more then that T.O. get away with showing coverage more then anyoe else.
Micheal jordan got away with traveling more then any other player in the NBA.
Roger Clemmon's can throw a low inside pitch and get a strike
You can throw out your cinspiracy theories as much as you would like.
I don't expect many of you to understand this, but the one single time steve largent complained, the official automatically threw the flag. Largent was an insane clean player, and because no official had ever seen him compain, they had to assume he was telling the truth (and they were correct).
Don't take me wrong, I love the smashmouth raiders of the late 60's early 70's.
I LOVE that kind of football.
What you are forgetting is that Randy Moss got away with all of that pushing off AS A VIKING!
Moss pushed off as a viking for years before he went to the raiders.
So, do certain players get away with it? YES...Is it because they are a raider? NO.
If you all complained about Moss pushing his entire career, I'd agree with you.
Remember, he pushed off for YEARS as a viking. |
