Each year, I always hear broacasters and announcers praise referee Mike Carey for being a great referee.  I personally think that he (and his crew too) gets many calls wrong.  Did you see that Bucs/Bengals game last season when Carey called called an "Unncecessary Roughness" penalty against Cincinnati defensive end Justin Smith?  Absolutely rediculous.

Also, I find his hand gestures and voice annoying as hell.

"The play results in a ...(pause and hand gesture)...first down!"

Shoot me now.

is it Mike Carey or Billy Dee Williams?  I'd love to see the NFL publish stats regarding officials.  I don't buy what announces say about officials...show us the numbers!

Hello. Yeah, Carey sucks the big one. One of the worst for sure. He runs funny too.

Yes this call was bad. I think they called it because it looked like he slammed his head into the ground. I don't think he did and it should be the defenders responsibility to prevent the QB from hitting the ground that way. However, I think Carey is one of the best. He never makes the big mistake, always know his rules, never chooses the one option that is not possible (like so many other refs do). He is confident an young enough to move around the field well. I think the ones we need to get rid of are the 65 plus years olds running around out there with slow brains and bad eyesight.
