I was reading the new Penance pages, and when I read this, I instantly thought of this: "Most people go through life wondering if they've made a difference. Marines don't have that problem." -President Ronald Reagan
By-the-by, good work on the new pages- both of you guys. I love the coloring job you do, Hatter. Though the shadows in panel four of page six, and panels 1 & 2 of page seven are wrong. But that is the only thing that I see wrong.
And while reading the last three panels of page nine a little James Earl Jones voiced narrator suddenly popped up and said: A hero is born!
I'd make jokes about Repentant ninja turtles, but that wouldn't be up to my caliber of bad jokes. |

Bah. Everybody's a critic.
Also, define "wrong". _________________ ...

They are pointing in the wrong direction. Shadows point away from light sources, blocking what is behind them. If you have a car, go out tonight, turn on the headlights and stands at odd angles and distances from the light and you'll see what I mean.
Otherwise it is basically perfect. I love the night glow you've got in all the panels. _________________ "You actually need a reason to have an orgy?" -Alex Roentgen

I'd say SLIGHTLY off...
Meh, Atlas is picky. It happens. I liked it.
I also notice that the line art itself seems to be compleetly different -- especially when it comes to hair.
Is that a Bob thing or a Hatter thing? |

A little bit of both I guess. In case you hadn't noticed, Penance (unlike the rest of the comic) isn't inked, only pencilled. Bob's way of making it look grittier and more backflash-ish I suppose.
The hair is a Hatter thing though. My own little touch that sort of evolved as I went along. I realised while I was coloring the Lucifer w. gloves pics that if I used a super thin brush I could simulate hair texture a lot more realistically.
Plus- coloring Bob's spikey hair is smashingly fun.
Here's a before and after shot.

Ah, I see. I like the effect -- I think that looks quite a bit better than it would without the extra spikes, with the way you color.
Nice jorb. |

Of course I'm picky! That's a long established fact of my life. I once got into an hour long argument over the fact that my idea of asian food was nothing but eggrolls and shrimp fried rice. Sure on occation I eat other things too, but my "safe" food, and there for goto dish when eating at a new place is away shrimp fried rice.
There, a little story for you to instill relevance and back story.
Also, I did it to HELP Hatter, not belittle him- as I thought was quite apparent. I always try and give helpful critiques whenever possible. I'd wish nothing more for myself, in fact I long for it. The knowledge of one is only surpassed by those of the community. So sayith John Robins... or was that me. It was probably me since I killed John for arguing with me over asian food. Then cooked him and fed him to my tree of golden death wishes. It likes those sorts of things.
Say what?!?!
Also: Read Gunnerkrigg Court!
It is the best new webcomic I've seen in at least four or five years. I hate myself for not finding it sooner!
The writing, story, art, and characters are so deliciously good, I've gained five-hundred pounds just by reading the first book. It's just that good! _________________ "You actually need a reason to have an orgy?" -Alex Roentgen

That comic is sweet. At first glance it doesn't look like much, but once you start reading it from page one, you're just friggin' hooked! Kind of like SP, here. It's juuuust right. Like the most perfect pu- er... cookie. Yeah.
It's one of those rare comics that is done by someone who can write and friggin' draw. So the story and the art are always crisp, clean and professional, and the same can be said for the writing. _________________ "You actually need a reason to have an orgy?" -Alex Roentgen

Oh, and hey, when are we going to get to see those other three Penance pages we were originally teased about? Or are you guys waiting for next week to show those? _________________ "You actually need a reason to have an orgy?" -Alex Roentgen

Bob probably wanted each update to "end" at exciting and interesting places, as well as establish a better flow in the story by spreading it out over a longer (and more consistently updating) schedule.
Either that or he's just lazy. YOU DECIDE! _________________ ...

I'd say "lol", but then I'd have to commit seppuku from the stain on my honor.
Also, I've been meaning to ask what happened to our old boards? Not Dom's boards, but the WoT boards. I went and did a Gandalf for a couple years, and the thing is gone, and I never did ask why. So, now I am. _________________ "You actually need a reason to have an orgy?" -Alex Roentgen

Mike, webmaster of Wotmania, moved to Texas, where he had to start paying for web hosting, and the Sacred Pie boards got kicked out into the cold, cruel internet. That's how I understood it, at least. |
