You definitely do a great job on the backgrounds, Lanea! Backgrounds are really tough to do, and even more so if you're stubborn like me - I won't let myself use copy and paste, so I draw each background by hand. Don't ask me why I torture myself so.
And bookshelves are probably the most annoying background thing to draw.

'Thank you! I haven't practiced backgrounds much, and figured my skill was lacking, which is why I'm forcing myself to do it in the comic. Practice is good for you. I am using copy and paste as much as I can though so I don't burn out. Hopefully this means I never have to draw bookcases again.  Evil bookcase....

I really don't see how bookcases can be hard, but I'm not an artist.

Easy, it's the books. To make a bookshelf look like a bookshelf, you can't just put a bunch of box shapes for books on there, you have to vary the shapes in such a way that it looks natural. And even if you didn't have to, that's a lot of little boxes. If it were just the shelves, it'd be no big deal.
