You've managed to do something that not even I've done in the past nearly 2 years - explain how the characters can be speaking the same language.  :-P

I have a reason, I swear!  I just can't reveal it without revealing other stuff, though.  But a translation spell was one of the first reasons I came up with.  ;-)

I've read a lot of "transported to another world" stories, and in most of them, they don't even bother explaining the language thing.  In my favorite one, "From Far Away" the girl has to learn the language.  I figured I should at least try to make a reason.  I have to admit, the translation spell was obvious, but at least it isn't cast on Crystal.

In your comic, roofpig, I just figured it had something to do with the dimensions being close.  Things like that don't need an explanation as much in a comedy setting anyway.

I actually kinda like how you have it set up, it makes a lot of sense for Tetra to have a spell like that cast on her, and this way you can have fun with the translation junk while maintaining the ability to communicate, should you so desire.

I'm interested to see how it's going to turn out when Crystal meets people who aren't autotranslated for her.

That happens very soon.  I'm going to be nice and auto translate for the reader though.

Well, it's better that way for you also.  Creating an entire language from scratch can be very time consuming...  making up languages is much less necessary than one might think given the right context.

I also like the way that languages have been implemented in this story.

With today's comic though, I had no idea that Crystal couldn't understand the doorman until after I read the comments. I think this works for now, but it might be something worth explaining or tweaking at a later date.

Yeah, it's not apparent at the moment, but there's still room to make that clear in the near future (well, future period... depends how you want to implement it.)

Treyva!  *tackle glomp*  Hi!

Yeah, I'm having a difficult time pointing these things out without slowing down the narrative.   I was trying to do it visually by making the font harder to read than the normal font, without being illegible, but that's a fine line.   Hopefully I'll find a way to bring that in soon, make it more obvious.

Well I know in a lot of comics and such they'll use like < and > around it to signify a different language.

Hmm, don't really like that one.  I really should have put a couple of question marks over Crystal's head.  That would have helped.  Maybe I'll have to go back and edit it.

Either way works.  I got it and I think you are doing a great job with your comic.  Keep it up.

Thank you!  The language thing is going to get even more complicated, as we're going to meet a person who's got something that translates only one way.  There's no way to do that visually.... *sigh*

I thought that the different font did just fine.  I knew immediately that there was something different about it than what we had seen before, but question marks above Crystal's head or the really obvious "what did he say?" might clarify a bit.

of Course the earlier explination made it a pretty easy leap to make.

Thanks, Lolly.  I'll be adding the question marks and fixing a few spelling errors when I get a chance.

BTW, you should actually join the forums, that way you can edit your post instead of doing two in a row.  ^_~

@Mckalla, I had to see your avatar to figure out who you were.  I feel like an idiot.  Thanks for joining, I know how rare it is for you to post anything.
