This is one of the best color episodes IMO. Very suspenseful, some really good characters and scenery. It looked realistic and kept you on your toes. I thought Jean Marsh looked a little too mature to be the Lord Mayor's daughter. Usually in the Saint they pick younger girls who live with their fathers. But she did an exceptional job as always. I loved it how in the elevator, when Simon asked if she was the Mayor's secretary, she answered: "No, he keeps me", and Simon raised his eyebrow in amazement, but later discovered that she was the Mayor's daughter.  :smt003
Eliott should have never faked that postcard lol!!!  :smt018 That and the watch gave him away. And I thought Anne playing amateur detective was too risky and she should have told Simon about the watch instead of trying to break into Eliott's study. But then there wouldn't have been such an interesting ending... :smt002

I enjoyed this one too very much. Especially when Anne, having found damning evidence, makes her escape hurrying through the streets, only to be followed by the villain. Simon's rescue was great. :smt001

Jean Marsh was interviewed on tv recently, and she has aged very well, doesn't look all that different.

She became a very rich lady not so long afterwards. She and an actress friend were discussing how both their mothers used to be domestic servants in large houses, and the fact that in tv shows and movies, servants lives were never highlighted. So Jean and her friend Eileen Atkins devised a tv show called "Upstairs and Downstairs"  set in Victorian times, which was to air all over the world, and win lots of awards, and ran for many episodes. It is still being repeated riight now, and Jean played a housemaid called Rose, right from beginning to end.
