I loved this one, and have watched it several times.

Simon is hired by a restaurant owner in London, to go to Italy and bring back the father of his little grandson, so there can be a shotgun wedding! This is all a ruse, because the "father" is nothing of the sort, but is a wanted criminal, who owes the restaurant owner money.

Simon manages to get a job as a chauffeur to the criminal and his girl-friend in the large house they're staying in. There is a very funny scene while Simon is cleaning the car, and one of the "heavies" picks a fight with him. So Simon really lets him have it! He has a very cute Italian accent in this one too.

Lots of humour, fights, suspense, and in my opinion, one of the best.

The actress who played the villian's girlfriend  - Catherine Woodville - was married for a short time to Patrick McNee, who also starred alongside Roger a couple of times in other productions.

I'll be posting pics from this episode in a day or two.

Damsel in distress

In the opening sequence Simon is thinking aloud. He  has just had a disastrous dinner cooked by his girlfriend, and he wonders what on earth her coffee will taste like. I love his facial expression in the first pic.:smt003

This is when Simon becomes a chauffeur in Italy, for the villain and his girlfriend. He looks great in his uniform. :smt007

Simon was cleaning the villain's car, and singing opera -  a great voice he has too! The villain's henchman provokes a fight with Simon, and ends up getting drenched with a hose. I get the feeling Roger had a lot of fun filming this scene!

Simon takes the villain's girlfriend into town, and she flirts madly with him the whole time. As stated earlier Catherine Woodville was briefly married to Patrick McNee, and he starred alongside Roger in "Sherlock Holmes in New York" "The Sea Wolves" and "View To A Kill."

Simon's Italian accent  was so cute!

Amber, thanks for the pics!

I hadn't seen this one for a while, but now will be looking through my collection to watch it again. :smt007

If I recall, the young woman and her father are telling Simon that the father of her baby must be found. Simon's girlfriend walks out of the kitchen, puts two and two together and makes five, and promptly smacks Simon across the face, before walking out. :smt005

I liked the episode, but the end bothered me. Why did the saint act so friendly toward the group that hired him to kidnap the baddie? They lied to him and the older man attacked him with a butcher knife when the saint uncovered their plans. yet in the end, after all the trouble everyone went through to get the money and failed to get it, instead of being angry, they all decided to go out to dinner together with Simon? I was.... like...  :smt107 WTH?? Didn't make any sense to me.... :smt017

Maybe he was hungry and just looking forward to the meal the guy was going to prepare for him (if I have the ep correct). :smt003

My favourite bit is when Simon is washing the car and has a fight with the blonde guy - very funny indeed. :smt004

:smt003 apparantly the old man felt the same way. He sure got all bright eyed and chirpy at the mention of food.  :smt002

That moment made the whole episode for me. It was hilarious when Simon splashed water all over the baddie each time he tried to attack him.  :smt062

BTW, i never thought the Saint looked like a chauffeur lol

Amber, the pictures are fabulous!!!  :smt007

Nelly, Goodnight:

I was under the impression that the saint let the others go without getting arrested because of the baby. Sometimes he lets criminals go if he feels they are entitled to a second chance or if an innocent person might get hurt if they get arrested, like the baby in this story. They dont call him the saint for nothing  :smt002  :smt002
