This was one of the early black and white episodes, and also starred David Hedison, an old friend of Roger's.

There was lots of great comedy moments, in particular with David and Sue Lloyd, who played the shady  seductress "Luella" and also with the actress who played his wife Suzanne Lloyd. (Bet those names caused a lot of confusion).

Simon made sure he got to meet Luella, in order to get back the money she had taken from his friend in a set-up, and to teach her a lesson. Their scenes together are magic, as Simon pretends to be a married man from Texas, looking for a little fun.

I enjoyed this one too, I have it as part of a boxed set of "The Saint."

I thought it was good how Simon turned the tables on "Luella" to teach her a lesson. The actress who played her, wasn't she in another "Saint" on a later date?

The Saint "Luella"

Yes Solitaire, you're correct. :smt001  Sue Lloyd was also in the later colour episode "Island of Chance."

Here's some pics. Simon acts like he is "an innocent abroad" who just doesn't understand the value of English money. Luella falls for the bait when Simon tells her that he is looking for an apartment  that he and his wife who is in America, can stay in, in London.

Simon and Luella go dancing at a nightspot, and he tells her that "my wife doesn't understand me."

Back at the apartment that Luella says is for rent, she goes to "get into something a little more comfortable."

The Saint "Luella"

Luella moves in for the big seduction scene,  because by now her accomplices will appear onto the scene, as the " outraged husband" with a photographer, demanding money. She is shocked when Simon grabs her and kisses her passionately.

Just as Luella's "outraged husband" appears onto the scene, together with a photographer, and demands money, so too does Simon's "wife" (his friend's wife, who is in on the act), and she too has a photographer. Both "spouses" leave, very angry.

When everyone has left, Simon, still acting as the Texan, holds Luella, and suggests they "both comfort each other." She tells him to get out in no uncertain terms! :smt003  The villains are caught trying to make their getaway, by Simon and his friends, and their money is retrieved.

A nice touch - earlier in the story Simon received information about Luella from a lady who was under the impression that he was James Bond. At the end of the story she asks him if he really is James Bond, and Simon shakes his head,  looks up to see his halo appear above him.

Great pics Amber once again!

I particularly liked the scenes with David Hedison and Suzanne Lloyd, who played husband and wife.

She also starred in several other "Saints" with Roger. One in particular where she played an actress and to help Simon solve a case, had to work as an Irish waitress in a London cafe. I must have it, because it was one of the earlier black and white ones, only I can't now remember which one it was. Anyway, I enjoyed that one very much too.

Thanks Connie!

I think the episode you are referring to is "The High Fence." Suzanne's scenes as an Irish waitress were very funny.

What did you think of Roger's American accent?
