I watched an old "The Champions" show this evening, and tried to spot you - I'll keep on looking!

I remember one episode I did was on a submarine (studio) :smt003  and one of the actors was a guy named Mike Pratt who went on to star in Randall and Hopkirk....68/69.

Hi Aitch, I'll be watching out for that particular episode of "The Champions" then.

I loved Mike Pratt in "Randall and Hopkirk." The show was so much better than the re-make they did a couple of years ago.

Aitch,

You mentioned that you had to wear a patch over your eye because of a bee sting. That must have been awful. How did it happen?  :smt103
When I first saw this picture, I thought that the guy to the very left was Roger with a beard.   :smt080

The guy on the left with the beard is Ricky Green the 2nd A.D.
We worked for many years together but I think he left the biz for pastures new. :smt002

I don't recall this scene in "Five Miles To Midnight", was it in the same episode or another? You don't seem to be very happy  :smt002 but it's a nice closeup  :smt023

Just looked through the episodes, and found out the ones Roger directed himself. There are two of them - "The Long Goodbye" and "The Time And The Place". Will be watching them either today or tomorrow and let you know which one.  :smt002

BTW, I am probably biased, but when I saw these episodes a little while back, I thought Roger did a great job as a director and had an eye for detail. Would you say that's true after working with him as a director?  :smt001

Roger was very good at his job. In front or behind camera.

Great pic Aitch, from "The Spy Who Loved Me." Was that a real person you were carrying there?

What was Roger like as a person? He was known for playing jokes on those he was filming with, did you ever see him do that to anybody?

Roger was the king of the jokers and I remember one time on The Persuaders when we had Terry Thomas as guest star on an episode and he was such a funny man that Tony and Roger couldn't get through the scene without cracking up with laughter.
Now Terry was a very English gent actor and first Tony copied his accent and then Roger tried it. Cast and crew fell about with laughter.
After a while they got down to doing the scene and as Terry said his first line they were all in fits again.
The director was now looking at his watch but decided to call an early lunch to allow things to settle down.

After lunch we completed the scenes and all was back to normal.

(another great day at work)

I'll talk about The Spy Who Loved Me soon. :smt003
